I am getting a bit tired of the trigger on my NP 29 as it must be 15 lbs.
Even though I have adapted to it, I think I would prefer to change it to something more reasonable.
Any suggestions; as the trigger has not changed a bit since I first got it.

A matched drop in hammer and sear will improve things considerably. I used a mccormick in mine and it's pretty a pretty decent 4-5lbs. Or you could have a smith do a trigger job on it.
Changing the trigger will do nothing to lighten the pull in a 1911, it's just a switch basically.

If you plan on doing it yourself then assume you will have to replace the parts (at least the hammer & sear). If you don't go overboard then you may not have to replace anything. Generally you can improve it but if you want it to be the best it can be then leave it to someone with a lot more experience.

Go slow. It's much easier to remove metal than put it back. ;)

If you have any handtool savvy....

Check out M1911.org/forums/gunsmithing/technical issues/poor man's trigger job. I have done this to 4 1911's with great success. As already stated, go easy. BE SURE TO FUNCTION CHECK YOUR PISTOL BEFORE USE.
