Hi

I just got an NP 30 in .45 ACP

It has some trigger work already done to it so I do not think it needs any help with.

Other then that it is stock. What are som good (cheap) upgrades?

Its already got extened slid release and a ambi-safety. The rubber wrap-around grips have got to go.....$30 to $250 depending if you want basic wood, carbon fibre or recycled alien spaceship.

Front site is staked, but a gunsmith can cut and install a variety of new sites in the $100-$250 range. Rodger at Dark Int. does a lot of this type of work. Probably Gunner at Armco too.

Until you decide to do that, clean out the sites with a q-tip and repaint with white or coloured model paint.

You might also have some problems with certain ammo. Mine doesn't like to feed anything other than ball ammo. Roger can adjust the ramp a little to sort it out I'm told.

I think Tiriaq meant that you'd have some trouble finding an aftermarket trigger that will fit. The NP30 mag-well is not a standard size and may not take other high-capacity parts. Or it may, with some minor fitting.

Even Para mags wont fit, you have to use the Norc high-cap mags. But they're cheap and plentiful.

I do not know if a trigger made for another make of double column 1911 .45 could be adapted. Perhaps a different finger piece could be fitted to your trigger's yoke.

That's what I did with mine , fitted a longer trigger shoe with an o/t adjustment on the OEM yoke, new match hammer and sear , match mainspring and got a very sweet light and crisp trigger . Other mods were a full lenght guide rod , match barrel bushing , grips (pachmayr signature) and a few stainless bits .
