I am looking for opinions on the Norinco NP-34. I like the look of the gun and it is the closest we can get to an actual Sig P228 up here. I'am thinking of using it for IPSC (Production Division).

I had heard from other posts a while back that they had problems with the frame cracking. Does anyone know if that is still happening or if they have corrected it.

Thanx in advance

Crap, huge piece of ####.... I had one. First 500 rounds were ok, then I had all kinds of problems including feeding issues (with JHP), frame cracking and poor accuracy.

You will always find a difference of opinion here, but although SOME have had problems with frames cracking, I have had good success with mine. I am not crazy about the alloy frame but in the past 2 yrs I have not had any issues with it other than the mag floorplate shattering:eek:. I don't shoot heavy loads thru it but the round count has been considerable. Marstar has a good warranty for them, but thats only for the first year. If anything happens after that you may have an expensive paperweight, but I have not personally experienced that as yet. I would be interested to see how many have been sold and what the percentage of frame failure is, but thats info we will never see:confused: .
Good luck with your search

The frame cracking thing I've heard about every model of norinco ever made, and some which are still in the planning stages :D

I've put probably 7-10,000 rounds through my NP22 since, ohhh, Apr I guess, and never a single problem which wasn't attributed to user error. The only (ONLY) time it ever failed was 2 weeks ago, at the Triangle, with I think an oversized round of factory ammo. Beyond that, no cracking, no problems, etc.

But I also hear that it's hit and miss with Norincos, so just because mine was fine, yours might suck
