Found that the pictures of NP-34's were few and far between and since I just got one I thought I would post some so others may decide if this pistol is for them or not. Feel free to post some decent pictures of yours.

Bought it from SRFC (thank you) Came in the Norinco plastic box, placed inside a cardboard box and Canada Post delivered it a day early and with signature (thank you also)

Cleaned up and showing the old style spring on the right side. Note the lock washers for the grip screws (Yes I am looking at you Sig)

Here you can see the "winged" locking block, which is their answer to the rail cracking problem.

Mine came today as well.

I have been wanting an NP34 for quite a few years so I jumped on this shipment.

I opened the box and though this is a Norinco??? :confused:

Maybe I got a very nice example, but Norc has certainly upped the ante with the latest NP34.

The aluminum machining and anodizing are excellent.

The slide is not nitron of course, but it's damn good.

Sights are as good as any service pistol (reminds me of my old CZ75 sights).

Double action is heavy (by design) but single action is very acceptable.

The manual is multi language and written very well. No promises of more "Annihilating firepower".

And... the magazines appear not to be junk!

The grips are still crap though :D

I replaced them right away with some Houge two piece (not wrap around).

I will say I did need to shave some material off the bottom of the rubber grips to allow the mags to be seated without slamming them in.

For $370 I am blown away.

I'll see how she shoots but I am very impressed.
 
Yes I noted the manual is far better than before, although the word "thrust" is used a fair bit. a note to people cleaning the gun to get the gunk off. Do not let stuff like brakeclean get anywhere near the grips, mag followers or mag floor plate, they will melt into blobs. Remove those parts and place them far away before cleaning.

So far I have tried the gun with the Serpa holsters for the 229 and 226, it fit both. It also fitted the desanti pancake and the Tagua thumb snap pancake holster from Canadaammo

that looks like a great gun! I like the idea of spare parts. My question...what's up with the frame rails sweeping upwards in the area above the serial # and takedown lever peg (or whatever it's called) ?
Is that to alleviate frame cracking?
 
The grips came with my Elite 229, costs are well over $100 if you can find them. I have a set of aluminum ones I might try to see if they will fit.

To answer the other question, the "wings" are to deal with the frame cracking problem, seems Norinco copied the design completely including the flaws. But with a lesser grade alloy that cracked faster than the Sig. So far it seems they have solved the problem.

That's a long gone issue that plagued the early SIGs back in the 80s; copying a design has it's limitations :)
 
Here is the first range outing, some doofus who will remained unnamed to protect himself from mockery forgot to bring the ammo.......Luckily a kind soul (thank you "Earl" from Squamish!!!) took pity on me and gave me a box of AE 147gr to use. Shots were around 15-20m away and the large group was in single action, the rest were double action from the holster. I am quite pleased, shoots at 6 O'Clock. the light is the NC-star laser/light combo, so far has stood up about 200 shots of 9mm,40cal and .45acp
