Thanx must go to "Andrew870" for posting his NP-40 for sale on this site. I was the lucky person to get it. Being a fan of this type (CZ-75/85) handgun it was a no brainer for me to purchase it. The handgun came as the factory produces them except for Houge rubber wrap around grips. The trigger return spring was also broken.

I can not leave anything alone so a few mods. had to happen. The first thing I did was install a match single action trigger, I polished a few parts but did not attempt to lighten the trigger pull. It still needs some work to make it smooth and light. I will do that later once I find a better trigger that comes further to the rear of the trigger guard area. Short fingers. I installed a set of fully checkered walnut grip panels I had. Lots of work to get them to fit as the frame on the CZ is slightly different in all dimensions. I like adjustable sights so I am in the process of installing a fiber optic front sight with an adjustable rear. I will have to open the rear slot to accept the new sight. I will do that tomorrow. I had a couple of extra base pads so I put them on the 2 mags. I got with the handgun. I deburred the mags and set them to eject from the handgun when empty.

I think I will flare the mag well, add an extended mag. release, polish the feed ramp and throat the chamber.

I wonder what else I can do? Full profile mag. well, cone the barrel, tighten and polish the slide rails to make it smooth. Two tone?

How does it look so far?

UPDATE

I installed a set of adjustable sights on the handgun this past weekend. I used the LPA mod. # TPU 57ZC30 rear and a fiber optic front. I purchased these sights from a CGNer about a year ago, the front sight came in the package. the deal also included a SPR 86CZ18 set. I wanted to keep the sights as low on the handgun as possible so I went to the TPU setup. The front sight went on real easy. Removed the pin that retains the front sight, tapped the old sight out and taped the new sight in. I then drilled the pin hole to accept the pin. The new sight does not come with this already done. This pin also retains the barrel bushing so it does have to go back in. The rear sight was a little more difficult. The dovetail was not large enough to accept the adjustable sight. I could have used my milling machine to open the dovetail up but felt that this is a project that I only want to use hardware store tools to do any modifications with. I had to look in 2 stores before finding a file that came close to matching the original dove tail angle. I re-cut both sides of the side dovetail and both sides of the sight dovetail. I then filed the sight and slide dovetails to a tight fit. Cold blued the white metal and tapped the sight into place. It turned out not too bad.

I'm not overly exited about the look of this sight. I think it need to be inlet-ed down into the slide. HMMM?? I wonder if the SPR sight might look allot better inlet-ed into the slide. It has a larger rear profile. Thats going to be allot of metal to file down.

I do not like the looks of that trigger.
Sounds like an interesting project. I'd like to do a norc job someday.

Greaves024 "that trigger just "erks" me".
I like single action triggers only because I have short fingers. This trigger I picked up about 10 years ago when I was building my race gun for IPSC. Its an EAA Witness (CZ75) part. I'm going to try and find or make one that curves back into the trigger guard area so my trigger finger can get to it better.

My IPSC open race gun in 9X21.

gonecountry "think the trigger pull is really that stiff LOL"
Its not that the trigger pull is bad, its is rough and needs to be smoothed out, in the process I will also lighten the trigger pull. I plan an leaving it single action only.

I also like the squared off trigger guard on my race gun. What do you think should I change the one on the NP-40. Today I'm going to finish installing the sites and open up the mag. entrance area of the grip.

Ahh, so your the lucky bugger that picked that one up 2 mins after posting! I was hoping for an unforeseen problem in payment, and I might get a shot, but I was likely further down the "I'll take it" list. Lots of good deals lately, I am still looking for a wife-friendly purchase (read- cheap) of a centerfire pistol.

On topic, I would be interested in seeing a two-tone norc, but the add-ons look good so far!
