NP22 from SFRC

Went to the range last night. Did some initial testing to establish the sights at 20 yards, shooting with my hands resting on a bench. It shot a pretty tight group with Winchester 115 grain FMJ, but it was a good 3-4" to the right. I then started shooting in a normal manner, and found I had to aim at the left edge of the target to hit centre. Everything functioned 100% and I'm pretty happy with this gun. Yes, it has a long reset, but that won't effect me unless I'm trying to be the next Jerry Miculek.

I'm probably going to remove the slide, put it in a vice and use a brass drift to move the rear sight approx. 1/16" to the left. Hopefully it moves.

Interesting. Hope the adjustment works for you.
 
I recently got my registration certificate in the mail. Hopefully Hooligan has his as well. I adjusted the sights with a brass pin and hammer, took it to the range last night, and I am still shooting 4-5" to the right at 20 yards. Back to drifting it a bit further left. Too bad they don't put witness marks to help you know when and how far you have moved it. I am using a dial caliper and measuring it, and that method is rather a pita.

It should move no problem. The rear sight on my NP22 fell out while shooting.
So loose i am not sure how it ever stayed in before but mayne there were shims that got lost. Idk.

*edit* Oh just read farther and see you got it to move. Thats good!
 
Used a pencil to scribe a fine line across the rear sight and onto the top of the slide. Made it real easy to see when the rear sight was moving and how far it moved with each strike of the hammer. Pencil mark and bit of brass from the punch wiped off easily afterwards. Looking forward to the next trip to the range.
 
Still no registration papers yet... the CFOs must be swamped with AR registrations these days (including my lower).

Sorry to hear you're having issues with the sights Griz. If mine are that off, I'll entertain having a smith fit some new sights.

Try changing your finger placement a bit before moving the sight; just might be all that it takes. Be advised that Norinco sights are lock-tited into place, so it may take a bit to get it moving; you could heat the slide a bit to get it to let go.
 
I bought the Hogue grips on ebay from grayhawk19. Cheaper than anywhere else I could find. They mailed them to me from the states and I got them in about a week and a half. They add a little thickness to the grip, but have a much nicer feel.

I shot mine again last night, shot from a rest to verify the sights. Got it pretty close. Shooting just a tad to the right, maybe 2" on average 10 shot group. Might or might not tinker with moving the rear sight a touch further left. It's going to be real slight move required. I really like this little gun. The trigger reset is very long, but once you get used to it, its fine. I'm not shooting it in any competition, just having fun.

Now I'm on the lookout for 500 or 1000 rounds on sale somewhere.

Thanks for the info and sounds like you're pretty close on the sites, depending on far you're shooting from that is. Which range do you shoot at?

I can't believe what a decent pistol this is for $267.00 including taxes and free shipping. I was expecting a nasty double action, that from the reviews would have me believe it to be nearly unusable. Instead, the double action is quite decent, hardly what I would call heavy. Similar to what you would find on a S & W double action revolver that is fresh out of the box. Maybe even a little better. Single action, the trigger is fine. Perhaps I will find the reset to be a little to be desired, or maybe its just something to get used to. That remains to be seen.

The finish on the pistol is a solid 7/10. Nothing to complain about. Just fine for a military or police grade weapon.

Can't wait to give a report from the range. From what I've heard, the accuracy is pretty decent on these pistols, and I don't expect it at all to be hard to shoot.

The reset on the P226 actuals is just as bad
My only gripe with the entire design honestly. I shot them A LOT. They were the issued pistol where I worked for 9 years.
They sell a SRT (short reset trigger) for the design. I highly recomend it. The mushy spongey slop after reset on single action is terrible. It's not because it's a Norinco clone lol Just the design.
See if you can get one they were about 90 bucks I believe. It makes a huge difference.
The norc 226 like the norc 1911 are towering monuments of handgun value for price.
