ok i just got my np29 in the mail yesturday.i dissasembled the gun for a basic cleaning(barrel,slide,got all cosmo off) then i fired 2 mags of mfs 9mm 115gr. ammo through it today with no problems. on the third magazine the gun jammed on the last shot.you couldn't move the slide at all.i grabbed my rubber malet and tapped the slide forwards and sure enough the slide would move and ejected the shell.so im loaded up again thinking it was a one time deal geuss what......it happened again. so i switched over to blaser factory ammo and same thing happened again. so this gun has a total of 32 rounds through it and it is broken. (i am not bashing norc at all) i just got back from the gun shop and they said send it back which is what i am going to do. the said it is the barrel link looks to be too long.and has caused some peening on the top of the barrel and on the barrel lock up grooves on the slide.i will have a video of it malfunctioning once my slow computer decides to upload it.

Question, looking at your videos it looks like the empty casings were not ejecting is that what was happening?
 
yes the empty case was stuck in the chamber.because the slide jammed in place not allowing it to move forward or back. the case was loose i took my knife and was spining the empty in the chamber.(i was thinking maybe it slammed back into the case causing it to flare out the case neck)
 
ok, I asked because I found with my NP29 that it came with waaaaaay too heavy of recoil spring. I don't know what the weight was but it felt like about the same as my 45 which I run a 16 pound in. Anyway, unless I ran full power loads in it, it wouldn't even allow the slide to move full cycle and the empties wouldn't eject. Sometimes the empty would eject but the slide wouldn't move rearward enough to allow the hammer to be cocked. This may be compounded by gritty fit and lack of a break-in. If your familiar with IPSC power factor, ammo running power factor of 135 would not reliably run my np29 with the spring it came with...
 
no i don't shoot ipsc yet. and yes the spring seems to be heavier then my 45 spring.so i don't know the power factor yet. but this was the hot mfs factory ammunition i was using. and also the cci blazer 124 gr. not reloads.shamefully i never got around to testing my reloads with it. i was going to runs about 150 rounds of fmj(factory)before i got into mt fmj and cast reloads.i have taken the gun apart and reassembled it and it slide/cycles nice and smooth. it was that way when i went to the range also. so i don't know. i may try cleaning it up and removing the burrs/stone from the machining and try it again tommorow.

can you let us SFRC NP29 owners if you found any manufacturing issue with the slide in question when you get it? Just curious if it is indeed the heavy spring causing such issue. This is my first time owning any 1911 platform, so I'm unsure how heavy the slide spring is supposed to be. I've run about 250 rounds of factory ammo with no issue, but do plan on reloading for this soon, as I've just bought a progressive and all the goodies.....
Just wanting to know if It will be a good idea to keep my reloads towards the warmer side of safe, or , go with my original plan and keep them low-medium in power. I just wanted plinking type loads, not full power. (unless full power loads are all that will cycle the slide with the heavy spring.)
Has anyone else had FTE, or FTL issues??
