NP29 questions

Have a NP29 and i love it but lately it is extracting shells at my head and face
any idea how to correct this

Could need a new recoil spring. What’s the round count? I’m guessing that the slide speed is higer than the gun would like.

i got it used so no idea ,,,this makes sense and i do have some spares ,,,,is a 45 and a 9mm spring the same

Negative. 9mm uses a lighter spring, somewhere in the vicinity of 12# if I'm not mistaken. .45 standard is 16#, with a lot of people running 18 or 18.5's

Sometimes on mine if the extractor gets dirty it will throw them back, but it needs to be real gooey to do this in mine.

I also was going to suggest cleaning the extractor with either brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner; scrub with a brush, and lube.

If you use brake clean then re-oil after. Brake clean is very good at stripping away all oil so you don't want to leave it that way.

Change the profile of the ejector. It is a $10 part, so don't sweat it.

Thanks ordered a wilson spring see what that does thanks for the advise folks

I had the same issue a while back. Got new ejector for it and it helped to a point. Still stovepipes once in a while and throws some shells in my face. Let us know how you make out, would love to have it fixed.

Is the np29 a 70 or 80 series ?
