NR heaven? ACP223 vs. ACR DMR wat do?

Tavor and ACR will run all types of ammo and aren't picky on mags either. The ACR is pretty darn accurate but the groups posted by wolverine of the APC made me order one...lol..

So because the varminter is picky on ammo that makes it more of a hunting rig? Maybe I'm not seeing something but he's looking for a semi auto non restricted black rifle seem to me the varminter meets that requirement.

Like any hunting gun you find the ammo it likes and stick to it. I dont have that worry with my Tavor and ACR I can pick up whatever cheap crap is on sale and go plinking.

I like the MV and MH but they would never fill my black rifle needs. If it wasnt for the APC showing up when it did I would of picked up a MV this spring.

But what I really want for hunting is a 243 ( from what i gather the MV will never be offered in that caliber ) and since ill will be retiring in NB, I hope to god that HK shows up in the next 9 years...lol...

Caliber conversion never appealed to me. I rather have 2 rilles in different caliber than 1 rifle that does both.
caliber too small for most north american big game, cant get around that without a conversion.

would be no need if someone came out with a light weight, accurate, reliable, semi auto, NR, 308

I dont like swaping them back and forth either, just buy more than one ACR, 223 does not appeal to my needs

My 2 dream hunting guns

MDR .308
HK .243

I will sell off all my other black rifles and hunting rigs when those 2 show up.

Well I had to try it to see if what the fuss was about...lol... and it wasnt like I expected at all. It ended up just more of a PITA.

And I had to cover shipping and insurance, hahahahhahaha
what was the issue, my only complaint is the XCR mags by C products don't stay locked in if shooting from the bench. I was rather surprised with accuracy as well with cheap dominion HP's from can am

All firearms prefer certain types of ammunition not just "hunting rigs" I'm sure you could find ammunition for the acr, apc, xcr-l, or any other firearm in that category that would work better. I am not saying he should by the modern varminter I have heard it has some issues I was merely saying it is a black semi auto non restricted rifle so its not like comparing apples to oranges.

Maybe comparing an apc to a Barrett mrad would be apples to oranges.

weight, the X39 made it heavier :-( and I was hoping it would of been more fun than my CZ858 and it wasnt
It is heavier by a little bit (I need to get the quad rail off it), but with light profile barrel it isn't bad. Accuracy is way better than the 858 though. It also doesn't help that I have a linear brake on mine for hunting.

The 450 Bushmaster conversion is lighter than a NR 223 ACR though

Sometime fun factor interest me more...lol... Thats why I love the Tavor and Cz858 for hitting steel and running and gunning.

I agree but the hells the point of buying any of the rifles mentioned if the goal is to drive tiny groups? None of these are precision rigs, they are all military derived platforms designed for reliability/ durability rather than precision.
because I suck and a 1moa or better gun removes some of that suck while hunting so I can make clean and ethical shots on the animals.

not everyone is looking for paper and steel punchers, when I wanna punch steel it's 50bmg

I agree that a nice accurate semi auto is great for hunting, however all the guns the OP is looking at, are only designed to be "minute of man" accurate. They are not intended to be sub MOA tac drivers. That's not the point of a firearm that is designed for combat. I look at my Tavor and am more than happy to get 2-3 MOA from it. That's still 6-9" gun at 300 meters, which is when a 223/556 begins to take a dive anyways.

So ereally, letting accuracy make your decision with a battle style rifle is kind of silly. In 95% of the cases, the shooter will still influence poor accuracy way more than the gun will.
