NR Rifle Battle ACR vs XCR

Well it is a thread for battle rifles ... not sure varmints of the pest control kind were in mind.
No, the title uses the word "Battle" to mean competition between the two, as in which one is better.

Neither are "battle rifles", well maybe the non civilian version of the ACR that we can't have

Oh, I stand corrected .. and here I though minute of man when minute of coyote was in order. I also though there lots of people getting XCR's for that reason *shrugs* off to the corner now.

The idea with a non restricted rifle is not to be bound by the transport locations limitations, paper work/statt hassles with bringing your firearm to a gunsmith for maintenance/mods/repairs.

I'm not a hunter and out of all my firearms I only own 1 single restricted rifle, all my other rifles are non restricted.

Well at least you own one. Everyone should own at least one restricted firearm. The old strength in numbers theory. The more of us that own restricted the larger the group they know they will piss off if they try to take them away. That's deterring the government from bending to the anti's because every one of us they piss off is a lost vote.

I figure since more than half my shooting is done at the range it makes no difference to me what it's classification is. I'll just be sure to own a few restricted and a few non restricted so no matter where I shoot I have something fun to take with me.

Like I said in another thread the ACR you can change Barrels to different calibers but since the barrels are only 16.5 " it makes the gun Restricted.

There are no factory options available yet for any caliber conversion of any length which is why almost every person who does go through the trouble gets one built in non restricted length. I personally have non restricted 223, 300 blackout and 6.8SPC conversions for my ACR. All are made from stainless steel match grade blanks.
when I bought my ACR used it came with a custom 12 inch barrel which looked so good I almost kept it restricted but since I wanted it to be non restricted and in 300BLK for deer hunting I sold that barrel and bought a non restricted 223 barrel and then found a great deal on a questar 6.8SPC barrel then had it verified and removed from the registry. Not long after that I had my friend/machinist/gunsmith make me my 300BLK barrel.

I was planning on getting a bunch more restricted, but they arbitrarily took away gunsmiths from my ltatt for no apparant reason or cause whatsoever, after 20 years of there being gunsmiths all of a sudden no more gunsmiths allowed, I just gave up on buying more restricted rifles and handguns. Just sooooo tired of them playing games with us without having to answer or justify their reasons to anyone.

Don't give up, that's exactly why they are doing this crap. They want to make us hate dealing with them so we quit buying them and then they can take them away from the few stubborn ones remaining. I'm really not sure why the CFO's and their staff would have this attitude though, once there are no more restricted firearms out there they are out of a job.

Don't let the anti's win!!! Keep buying them. How often do you need to go to a gunsmith anyway?

Non-restricted for now, but for how much longer? I have a hard time believing that the NR ACRs are going to escape the antis' intended black rifle reclassification. They'll be lumped in with the XCRs, M305s, Tavors, Famaes and any other NR "scary looking" firearms deemed to be a threat to public safety. The only question is whether they will be restricted (creating a defacto black gun registry) or directly prohibited. And if the latter, will there be confiscation with/without compensation?

I have a restricted ACR and over the years I have toyed with the idea of having a non-restricted barrel conversion done. I also have a restricted XCR that was brought in from California and have considered buying a non-restricted barrel for it. Nowadays I'm glad now that I never invested the money in a non-restricted barrel for either rifle. Having to face the likelihood of their reclassification by name rather than by barrel length would really piss me off. The liberals already did their major damage to my bank account back in the early 90's when they reclassified over a dozen of my firearms from non-restricted to prohib under Bills C15 and C68. The forthcoming reclassification will simply be Round 2, where the Liberals re-brand all of the military-style firearms introduced to the Canadian Market since the first mass-reclassification 20-odd years ago.

I hear your pain, but am trying to remain optimistic that we can somehow avoid bill S-231 or something similar by standing united with one very loud voice.

Also, the fact there is a significantly larger number of firearms owners who legally possess/use handguns and semi.-auto. centre-fire rifles who would be outraged by such a change in firearms regulations compared to the amount affected 20-odd years ago will hopefully help our cause.

Definitely stressful times for firearms owners right now, but we must not give in we must make it clear we will fight for our ownership and use of semi.-auto. centre-fire rifles on crown lands and to keep being allowed to use restricted semi.-auto. handguns and rifles at approved ranges.

Cheers D

We'll, I landed on a set of xcr's with light barrels and don't regret my decision.

Congrats, love mine and purchased a 6.8 SPC kit. Easily a 1.5-2" @ 100m even with a loose bipod mount(discovered after shooting), 10 dollar a box Fed. 223 50 gr JHP., a low power Burris variable and I also removed the stock and adjusted it upwards to get a proper cheek weld. That should tighten the groups a little.

I have since relocated the bipod/mount back an inch or 2 but have installed the 6.8 barrel/bolt/deflector for 2nd week of deer season.
