Who is doing NR rifle Rebarrels these days? I have acquired a Restricted Bushmaster ACR and am considering having it rebarelled to NR. Who is doing this kind of work in a reasonable time period these days?

The ACR barrel is essentially the same as an AR barrel. The main difference is the barrel extension. You either need a spare extension or be willing to take one off a donor barrel.

I don’t understand, can you please explain? I thought the only major difference between an AR and an ACR barrel was the contour and (for us) odd combination of length and gas length. My understanding is the ACR is middle gas, and a certain diameter behind the gas block for the piston guide.

When you talk about the extension, do you mean the trunnion? I’ve purchased a Templar lightweight for this should I proceed.

Hey budd,
I am in the same boat. To my knowledge there's two options.
1. Buy a blank barrel and get parts from your donor barrel and get it done from ATRS. I highly recommend ATRS as I really liked their work.
2. Buy complete barrel from Templar precision. Who is building from scratch. I wanted heavy profile barrel in 18.5 with Bartlein blanks and cost is around 1200 USD plus imports. but you will have spare barrel.

Herron arms has done multiple caliber barrels for ACR

Herron Arms is also able to make custom bolts for calibers that parts are simply not available for.

For example, the ACR was advertised around the same time as Remington brought the 30AR caliber to life and was slated to be available in this caliber. Remington never made good on this promise to release the ACR in 30 AR, but Herron Arms made it a reality.

CRAP, I may have been thinking of the Robinson Arms rifle. It was a long time ago. I think you are right.

ACR has a variety of gas lengths out there. Yes you need the piston guide support. Templar is the only realistic source of stuff like gas blocks and pistons, although I'm still waiting for a barrel that should have been done in the spring. Dana is trustworthy IMO but he's a one man shop with a day job so it takes as long as it takes to get stuff made that's not in stock.
