NRA Distinguised Revolver versus ISSF Free Pistol?

I may take up Free Pistol as my newest shooting hobby in 2010.(22 LR single shot handgun @50 meters)
(somehow also shooting some full bore TR [.308, iron diopter sight] matches as well!)

What perplexes me in this country, is the lack of NRA style Distinguished Revolver matches held in Canada?

Perhaps I am just misinformed
PS: Action shooting guys tread softly please. I just can't seem to take these to heart. This old carbon unit, is allergic to anything resembling 'pepper podding.' I've had my fill in this subject, courtesy the airborne infantry.
Myself lately, the enjoyment lies in 'long shots' at a distance target.

Problem around Edmonton since they nuked Strathcona range is finding a true ISSF range for 50m. I know Calgary has one.

That said, 50m is 50m at any range.

If you can't find a NRA style Distinguished Revolver match, get involved with your local club, advertise, and put one on!

I believe you'll find distinguished revolver matches occuring within the PPC umberella, if you can bring yourself to shoot at a B27. PPC's definition is basically a stock revolver firing a lead semi-wadcutter bullet over the standard 1500 course of fire (7/15/25 standing and 50 L+R barricade, kneeling sitting and prone) - Plenty of room for accurate shooters in PPC

Hard to find such in the Bonnyville/Cold Lake area. Seems IPSC (DAO semi auto) rules the roost here.

PPC and NRA Distinguished Revolver are two very different cats. For PPC you shoot the 60 round short course, but the NRA is a 30 round National Match Course. Calgary Rifle and Pistol Club puts on Reeves matches with the NRA 2700's - close to Distinguished but allows custom grips and 158SWC lead loads instead of factory 'ball'. And yeah, we shoot the 50 yard on reduced targets. www.crpc.ca is the website for info. Dr J.
