NRC wants our information?

I was at Cabelas (Edmonton) today and was going to pick up some rifle primers. Not unusual in itself. When I get to the counter and let them know what I want (2 whole boxes of CCI 200's) the kid gives me a little slip of paper to fill out.

Apparently National Resources Canada wants my name, complete address, phone number and wants the clerk to check my ID to confirm I was giving correct information. ?!?!?

I asked for the manager and he said this was store policy for the longest time. I know I bought primers from them a few weeks ago and they didnt require anything like this that time. I left them on the counter where they sat right next to their little form.

Nowhere I have bought primers from in the last month or two has asked to collect my information before.

Anyone else run into this?

Seems like Cabela's is doing a lot of information gathering.

There is a thread about them calling the CFC to verify everyone's Pal when buying a firearm.

Me thinks cabela's is gonna lose a lot of business

Leave it to a fudd store to screw it all up.... I had one clerk become irate on another clerk in G.P. At wholesale sports one time for asking me personal info upon purchasing powder. He was dead set against that man getting any info from me even if it was store policy! Lol. If even the employees think its shady then it probably is.... Needless to say I shop elsewhere whenever possible.

I had this happen to me with powder at Wholesale in Calgary a week or two back.

I maybe went off the handle a little bit, but long and short of it, the guy behind the counter learned that store policy does nothing for me. To collect my information when it is not a legal requirement is a farce. Just a way to hand more information over to the government so they can come up with a new way to regulate us.

Do not support these businesses!
 
One more reason to support small business rather than the big box stores. If the small guys go out of business then there'll be no option than to accept the policies of the big stores.

Hmmm, I`ve been buying all my powder, primers,etc locally. Nothing asked from the guys running the store. On the other hand, there is this old battle ax lady that works in there, she asks for my PAL everytime.
