NS522 any out there?

See, the problem I have with Norincos is when you have to pay more for a `budget` Chinese rifle than a quality one. A Savage Mk.2 FV is probably a much better gun, and is less money.

Well, 'actually' much better would be the answer to that. I completely understand why people buy Norinco stuff like the M1A. I did too, since its about 1/4 the price of a Springfield, but paying more to get a Norinco over a similar rifle made in Canada/USA? Just don't get it. I can't see how they can ask $299.00 plus tax for a Norinco. I got the Savage brand new for $239.99. Not to mention the cheap, available mags for the Savage.

Anyways, carry on with the thread. Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in here.

I agree with you, I have two beautiful Savages, love them. But I did fall on the band wagon with the CanAm Norinco sale. I have seen other Norinco products, the NS522 isn't the same as the others. The barrel is what makes it worth it's price, the bolt is a bit Norinco'ish, the stock is like it was made for another gun-hey wait a minute!

However, with a bit of work it can be one hell of a shooter, better than a Savage so they say, I haven't compared yet. Simple pillar and bed from Home Depot costs under $20.

I bought the last one at Doctor Deals. It was $250 plus shipping and they called it NPEM332 but the gun says NP Model 522. Had trouble but ended up with both mags. Now to clean it up. Don't hold your breath for a range report, it is cold and I'm lazy. The guy at Doctor Deals says he sold all the guns out of area, none locally, I'd guess from this site.

I've shot both and both are great guns for the money. If you compare price point to price point the Norinco is a better gun. The stock on my FV was equally as lacking but in different ways. Each shot similar accuracy wise but at the end of the day I stuck with the Savage as I already bought 5 mags and a good stock. The made in Canada part is also pretty cool.

Feel wise? The Norinco is a nice gun, and feels more like a much more expensive gun. But both do their job very well and it would be a moot point to try and determine which is better. Personal preference will be the deciding factor.

I took the new gun (522) to the range. It was 0C outside. I had lots of issues with the scope. I went out to find a set of Weaver rings for the 3200 Elite scope. Turns out the bolts on the mount are made of butter as I twisted off both and had to go find better bolts. Being Sat. the shop I usually go to was not open. I also had issues getting the bolt to eject the ammo but I just wiped off the old oil did not dismantle the bolt. I was using cheap ammo and my groups were not great at 50 yards. I couldn't find any better ammo at the shop where I got the scope. At 22 yards I was getting good groups, under 1 inch for 5 rounds. I am happy with the gun but it needs work and my shooting is about on par, in other words not that good.
