Ns522 first time to the range

Right out of the box and just cleaned the packing grease off the NS522, installed a cheep banner scope, and hit the range.
I had a Bucket 'o' Bullets by Remington and a couple of part boxes of other brands for the first shots.

Fired 5 rounds at 25 yd. first round a little high but right on the centre line, the next 4 rounds were touching about 3/4 " lower. HOT DAM I am thinking this thing can shoot!
After 20 rounds I switched to Winchester 333 (Walmart bulk) the group was even tighter!!! OK lets try some Winchester Expert, WOW ONE HOLE just a little bigger than a single .22, I am impressed!!!

Move the target out to 50 yd. 5 rounds that fit under a dime! NICE!!!
The guy next to me has a 10/22 that he has put over $1,200 of improvements into, looks at my target and is impressed, this under $200 piece of Chinese junk was shooting much tighter groups than his fully customized Ruger!

Can't wait till I free float the barrel, pillar bed the action, and get a much better scope.
The only problem I had was the empty casings were not thrown clear and landed back in the chamber, and a couple of rounds didn't line up and wouldn't enter the barrel. I found that I had to work the bolt a little snappier than I normally do.
All and all I am very pleased with my purchase.:d
 
I just received mine also . Cleaned her up , put on a 12x scope , and went to the range .
Shot at 25 yds first , Federal 714 OK group , SK Standard + one hole 5 shot group .
Our gun club doesn't have a 50 yd so I shot at 100 yds . It shot about 1 1/2" group with
SK . Not bad but not as good as my CZ . The action is pretty rough and the double
washers in the stock are a joke , but it didn't shoot bad for $200 . I think I will pillar and
bed the action and free float the barrel to see if the accuracy gets better . The trigger
on mine broke about 3 1/2 lbs , I plan on doing the trigger mod also .
 
Captain Ron check to see if the shells will slide up between the extractor and ejector easily or if it is too tight.I found mine was shaving some lead the odd time when loading because the shell couldn't get up to where it needed to be before entering the chamber. I filed a little off each side to allow the shell to come up more easily.

Captain Ron, vigorous bolt manipulation is required on the 522. No biggie, though, Model 54 Annies are the same way.

Yup! you'll get used to it, and I find some brands cases just sticks in there and I've got to pop it out with a cleaning rod.. some is better then others. Mine HATES Blazers, but runs flawless and accurate enough on that white box Winchester T22 40gr round nose stuff. a bunch of others work great to but that's the 1 I find works best for the cheapest!

Are you really comparing the bolt manipulation and extrction of the Norinco to a 54 Anschutz? What 54 actioned Anschutz do you own that exhibits these characteristics? Curious.
 
God I love to hear about that Chinese junk. I missed the first boat that brought them. I did catch the second one. Thanks to Jay hear on CGN. I need to get some glass for it. It will be a learning gun for me to bed it and free float barrel I was impressed with it. Congrats on your accurate Chinese junk. I can hardly wait to get mine out.

What JC Blauvelt-tuned NS-522 do you own? Anschutz extraction issues--both 54s and 64s--seem to be no secret on RimfireCentral.com. Start with the sticky at the top of the Anschutz sub-forum, the one entitled, "Reliable Extraction and Ejection?" Then search RFC for Anschutz extraction problems. It really isn't a secret.

I'm aware of the extraction issues some have experienced with their Anschutz's. Fortunately I've never had issue with any of mine.
If JC Blahblah tuned your chinese rifle to function like a 54 congratulations! It must be buttery smooth! Sounds like most aren't.
