The Provincial Rifle Association, now called NSRA was formed in 1864 although they claim 1861 as there was a match in Windsor.

In August, 1861, the first general rifle match was announced, the medal presented by the British National Rifle Association being offered for competition, open to volunteers from all parts of the Province. Earl Musgrave, the Governor of Nova Scotia, presented a cup. and many other prizes were contributed by private individuals. There was no Provincial Rifle Association at this time, the whole management being undertaken by the Adjutant-General, Col. Sinclair ......head of the Militia department.

Usually NSCC is held at Connaught ranges outside Ottawa. However Connaught is unavailable due to construction which is due to be completed any year now.
4 days of ORA provincials in Sept will still be a good match.
