This forum seems kinda dead lately.

So,, who's going to NSCC/CFSAC and what have you done lately to get ready?

Any members go to the ORA/OSA Service rifle shoot in Ottawa last weekend?,, with comments, etc?

I've been told directly that the Connaught Service Conditions match last weekend was NOT ORA related.

Operational Shooting Association ran it. Very well, I might add!

I'm about to start a thread about my misadventures... :D

I'm duty today, so I took a few minutes of quiet time to put together my match cards.

I have been running a "Rite in the Rain" log-book for a couple of years now, but I finally got around to picking up some of the loose-leaf pages that you can copy/laser-print on, and then pop into your little 5x7 binder.

Ran off a few copies of the 1-12's today, and then setup the 600-608 matches.

If anyone wants copies, let me know, and I can forward them over to you via e-mail when I get home tomorrow.

As an aside, I've also been doing a daily walk/run to get myself in somewhat better condition before I arrive at Connaught....a nice 5.5Km walk around the edge of the lake. (I'm running almost 1/3 of that distance now, full webbing/cbts/helmet, so I'm not there YET, but I'm up in distance, and down in time, so those are both positive things.)

the USMC has the same thing ....NS check out our team web sight ......BTW I have Done SFA this season My second shoot of the season will be in Sept .....lots stuff i have been busy with

I'm still negotiating with the DCRA about shooting NSCC since I don't really want to join our local PRA which ain't got no Service Rifle program (that's any credible, I mean). Just ask any of the soldiers who are currently shooting Service Rifle in Ontario, they'll vouch for the OSA run matches.

Since I ain't a member of the DCRA, I'm required to join the ORA at $ 200, just so I can shoot this DCRA event. Nah... I'll save that money for my Harley... they ain't gonna let us join as 'offshore' members. Oh well, looks to me like the DCRA has lost one more civilian shooter and advocate. I'm going motorcycling that weekend...

Anyways, for us in the OSA , the DCRA will not recognize us. Hmmmm... maybe we should remind the DCRA folks that they truly don't have any tactical relevance in light of today's Op Tempo. Or do they??

So if I really want to shoot a match that will never run as fast as TimK can push things, I have to fork over more money than I am used to for the OSA run matches (4 of them a year).

Then I'll have to park my backside in the butts and watch some rookie butts officer fzck le chien while they read the NSCC/CFSAC rulebook when we can just 'REST' the 4 foot frames, swap targets to the 2 x Fig.11's in anticipation for the 200m or 300m rapid fire matches.... :(

Frankly, I believe that we'll have more fun at the Ontario Service Rifle Championships at the end of Sep... More cash prizes (let's see if any other competition passed out the $ 1400 we did last fall) , a knife draw, many great shooting soldiers there. Faster run matches , less goatfzcking, much less political bull shzt as many of you soldiers, sailors and aircrew know... ;)

CFSAC Results

Let me be the first to annouce the 2007 Queen's Medalists:

Reg Force - Sgt George McKillop

Reserve/RCMP - WO Gary DesRoches

Congrats to both fine competitors!

It was a close run thing, with high winds and a freak (for non-Ottawa ranges, normal for Connaught) rain storm for the 500 deliberate for relay 2. It was right down to the wire, as all competitors fired well below their normal averages.

Link with pictures and videos to be added soon.

WO DesRoches is from the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada in Hamilton but I don't have his score.

Congratulations also to our own CGNers, Naval Sniper and Longshot who both did very well in the final results. It was great shooting with both of you. Maybe next year we really can be a team. It might help if some of our uniforms matched.

The dates for next year are already set out on the awards flyer.
CFSC 4 - 5 Sept 08
DCRA 6 - 7 Sept 08
NSCC 8 - 14 Sept 08
CFSAC 15 - 20 Sept 08
CASAM 21 Sept 08

Not sure what CASAM is but it looks like another full two weeks on the range.
