I'm finally back too.
First off my congrats to both Gary and George. It was a pleasure shooting with them and I hope to be able to keep up better next year.
What a good go it was.Navyshooter and I had a very good run and very nearly came away with two Queens Medals.
We shot NSCC Sniper together first and did quite well considering we decided to hotgun with the C3 and were shooting against some 6.5/.284's and others.
We ended up in 5th place overall.
Next up was the Canadian Forces Sniper Competition.
Again hotguning a C3 but this time up against PGWSteve's .338 Timberwolves.
We won gold on the 300m agony snap.It was shot on two fig.14's over a 10 minute period.10 x 3 second exposures.
And we struck gold again on the 500m deliberate.
Overall we came in 3rd as a team picking up a bronze medal behind only a stacked RCMP team and a very switched on team from the British Army Combat Shooting Team.
Personally,I picked up the bronze for third place overall. The two RCMP shooters in first and second and I believe Brad took fourth if I remember correctly.
NSCC Service rifle came next.
For me it went ok.I shot a 542 39v.Below what I've shot in the past but not bad considering last time I picked up a C7 was in May.
Second stage went ok.128 9v for a total of 670 48v.
I was happy considering.
I managed to grab the overall rapid agg. winning the Borden Trophy and I also picked up the Des Burke award.
On to the one that really counts.CFSAC service rifle.
In matches 1-12 I ended up with about a 544.It was good enough to keep me in the top 4 overall but I was 17 points behind Gary.Pretty hard to make up.Second stage came and the first relay, made up of the top 25 guys, goes to the butts first.Of course the weather was fine for the second relay, but by the time relay 1 got to shoot the wind had picked up and a nice squall came over the backstop and right up the range. We were shooting the 500 delib at the time and I for one,had trouble even seeing the target.Nothing to wipe lenses with and just a hard time with rain pelting your face. Not to mention one my LFWA team mates had come and grabbed our van to go to Timmies while I was in the butts. Not a bad thing but unfortunately my webbing and spotting scope were in there.Panick set in and luckily for me the Marlant team stepped in and saved my ass by lending me the needed gear.Just what I needed before stage 2.Something to take my mind off of shooting!!!
Anyways stage 2 came and went and I shot a 171.Not really a great score but everyone was having problems.Perhaps it was enough?I was pretty sure Gary still had it,but it was going to be close.
I ended up with a total of 715 which was enough to put me into second(first place loser

) for the reserve Queens.Second place and third place was decided by one V bull.Definately my best finish yet...but definately NOT my best shoot ever.
I walked away with a Gold for the international match, which Canada won and a Silver for the reserve component of matches 1-12 and stage 2.
I guess the best thing to come of it will be a trip to Bisley next summer.
