Hey NavalSniper, I wish I could be there too, but hey, you can always come out to play with us on 28-29 Sep. Come and join the NDHQ NCS Team or the Land Sailors' Shooting Team out of Ottawa.

I overheard somewhere that all of you NSCC/CFSAC shooters missed my presence in the butts...

It's all good.....

I shot some of my best scores of the comp in that Stage 2 Squall. I may not be great with the wind (yet) but I don't mind the rain.
That just means you have the sickness :D

Naval sniper You were missed,It was nice to see the members of your team that was there , I was thinking about buy Wendy flowers to help untie that knot her face is in :D such a happy lady ......

I had to drop out.....shooting was a disaster for me this year..It was nice to meet everyone .....it was the best mil shoot ever I wish i could have participated more and mingled no matter how crappy things go I always have a good time.
It was really good to see so many new shooter form the reserves. also

I'm finally back too.
First off my congrats to both Gary and George. It was a pleasure shooting with them and I hope to be able to keep up better next year.
What a good go it was.Navyshooter and I had a very good run and very nearly came away with two Queens Medals.

We shot NSCC Sniper together first and did quite well considering we decided to hotgun with the C3 and were shooting against some 6.5/.284's and others.
We ended up in 5th place overall.

Next up was the Canadian Forces Sniper Competition.
Again hotguning a C3 but this time up against PGWSteve's .338 Timberwolves.

We won gold on the 300m agony snap.It was shot on two fig.14's over a 10 minute period.10 x 3 second exposures.
And we struck gold again on the 500m deliberate.
Overall we came in 3rd as a team picking up a bronze medal behind only a stacked RCMP team and a very switched on team from the British Army Combat Shooting Team.
Personally,I picked up the bronze for third place overall. The two RCMP shooters in first and second and I believe Brad took fourth if I remember correctly.

NSCC Service rifle came next.
For me it went ok.I shot a 542 39v.Below what I've shot in the past but not bad considering last time I picked up a C7 was in May.
Second stage went ok.128 9v for a total of 670 48v.
I was happy considering.
I managed to grab the overall rapid agg. winning the Borden Trophy and I also picked up the Des Burke award.

On to the one that really counts.CFSAC service rifle.
In matches 1-12 I ended up with about a 544.It was good enough to keep me in the top 4 overall but I was 17 points behind Gary.Pretty hard to make up.Second stage came and the first relay, made up of the top 25 guys, goes to the butts first.Of course the weather was fine for the second relay, but by the time relay 1 got to shoot the wind had picked up and a nice squall came over the backstop and right up the range. We were shooting the 500 delib at the time and I for one,had trouble even seeing the target.Nothing to wipe lenses with and just a hard time with rain pelting your face. Not to mention one my LFWA team mates had come and grabbed our van to go to Timmies while I was in the butts. Not a bad thing but unfortunately my webbing and spotting scope were in there.Panick set in and luckily for me the Marlant team stepped in and saved my ass by lending me the needed gear.Just what I needed before stage 2.Something to take my mind off of shooting!!!
Anyways stage 2 came and went and I shot a 171.Not really a great score but everyone was having problems.Perhaps it was enough?I was pretty sure Gary still had it,but it was going to be close.
I ended up with a total of 715 which was enough to put me into second(first place loser ;)) for the reserve Queens.Second place and third place was decided by one V bull.Definately my best finish yet...but definately NOT my best shoot ever.
I walked away with a Gold for the international match, which Canada won and a Silver for the reserve component of matches 1-12 and stage 2.

I guess the best thing to come of it will be a trip to Bisley next summer.

Longshot: I've ONE and only ONE regret :( and that is NOT meeting with you, and the rest of the CGNutz at Connaught.

My apologies for not being there..... :(

Horseman: I'm looking forward to seeing the RCMP team kick ass and take names (so to speak)

It's good to see many other troopers achieving success at this game, especially the units that have been preparing and training all season long. That's great to be a part of.... :D

It was good to see an RCMP team and it was fun trying to keep up to them.Thier shooting was outstanding. They smoked the sniper comp agg and the night shoot which gave us problems.Kudos to them

Hungry,
I'm hoping to be back next year with a bigger western team so we should definately find a beer or two then.

Well holy crap! Can't believe that fat old crusty bastard won. Congrats Gary.

Sucks that Travis is on his small arms right now, this just may have been his year. 08 is out for 3RCR as well since we'll be back in Afghanistan. Maybe I can compete in 09.

Congratulations to everyone. Glad to hear you did better this year Longshot, sounds like you ended up with a better rifle than last year.

No worries Will.Next year will be better.Hopefully a bigger stronger team.

Leg,yeah I actually was able to bring my own this year which upped the confidence level and that is half the battle right there.Gary and George shot very well as I'm sure Travis would have.Hopefully we'll see you back in 09 safe and sound.
