ok.. forgive my ignorance regarding hand guns. i am looking at a colt 38 spec. auto marked " national match " the problem i have is that there is now way in hell that a 38 spec. would load into this gun. the clip is stamped 38 spec. the barell is stamped 38 nm. i was told this round is old and is a full wad cutter where the bullet is flush with the end of the case, sound right?? thanks for all your help. cambo

That's correct. The pistol is designed to use a target shooting cartridge with the wadcutter bullet seated into the case. This is a common, readily available, .38 Special target load.

Looking at?

Pass it over. As in do not buy!

Get yourself a nice, normal caliber like 9mm or 45 Auto.

It sounds like an old Colt National Match in .38 wadcutter. These are rare classics and very desirable for bullseye shooting, but not much good for anything else. If you shoot bullseye it could be a real find assuming it's in good condition. I hope it finds a good home 'cause it deserves one.
