Gentlemen,
This file shows us the number of M1 Garands for our US Military for a 100% change over from the Model 1903. Remember this is during the Great Depression when NO FUNDS were around, also not ONE Production M1 Garand has been built yet !! Look at the National Guard Numbers.

Gee... maybe it was because Hitler hadn't gone to the Sudatenland, Japan wasn't in Manchuria yet, and most countries still believed the war to end all wars was just that...

Probably the same reason Canada has fewer service rifles today than we had in 1930.

In 1927 the Quarter Master General & the Chief of the General Staff agreed that Canada needed a war reserve of 500,000 new service rifles, in addition to the 235,000 then in store & on issue.

Compare that to the under 100,000 we have now.... with a population almost 4 times the size.
