NWMP 1876 Winchester

I have heard that the auction estimate for the 76's is from $4,000.00 to $8,000.00. The "mountie" 76's may not be pristine, one description refers to possible re-finishing.
 
Both of the carbines in this auction have had the wood refinished or changed, such that neither carry the NWMP mark on the buttstock. The serial numbers, however, are within the range shipped to the NWMP according to the researched list published by (the name escapes me right now). The altered stocks should bring down the price considerable.
 
I know that Bud Haynes puts out a catalogue ($25) before hand, but also heard that about a week or so before the auction, they put all the guns and descriptions online. Anyone know if this is true? It's hard to consider doing an "absentee" bid with nothing to go by.
I'd love to have a NWMP, but that's a darn shame if they've been refinished, and especially if the NWMP is no longer visible on the side of the buttstock.
Anyone out there have the catalogue with pics and descriptions? I'd be interested in knowing more about the other 76s, 86s, and the Model 53. Maybe the online version will be up in another week or so. I've know that auctions can get pretty crazy in terms of price, but how often will you see that many Winchesters on one spot, all up for grabs. Wish I could be there!
