nwmp colt 45 lc saa

Just got home after every ones advice. Best I figure it is 119 mmm to 120 mm to the cone...... Pretty sure it is 12(6) on his old registration but he can not remember and we can not find the old registration. Worst case try the transfer and if they refuse then what?
And thanks to everyone including the PM with advice. Without you guys this may have slipped through my fingers. Will keep you posted will be a week before friend returns home.

Interesting. If this was used as a NWMP sidearm, it was not issued by the force. There is no historical president for this, which is why I assumed it was a new service (but I've heard of members carrying non issued arms). Markings aside, the condition looks remarkable from your pictures - if it's the original finish, it's potentially worth many thousands of dollars... Especially in the US.

As far as I know its all original. We are calling Can Firearms and attempt transfer early next week. If needed we will get it verified as 4 3/4 at local dealer. Once I have it in my possession I will post more pics. It is priceless to me so value has no matter except for insurance reasons I guess.

Well all is said and done. The gun is registered to me. It is in remarkable shape for its age. It is not registered as Prohibited and is just a 4 3/4 COLT. I rushed it home today on my break and will post new pics this evening. Special thanks to all of you who helped me through the process.

Glad to hear a story having a positive end.

Look forward to the pics, too.

I posted a thread earlier stating needing help with a NWMP colt 45. I had not seen the gun in 10-12 years and was mistaken about it being stamped NWMP. I went and saw it today. I have the NWMP members name and burial site here in SASK. Serial number 162###. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So are you trying to say that it was not actually marked with the NWMP stamp, but that ... yes ... it had been owned (and probably carried) by an early NWMP officer/veteran?

You should contact Colt and get the historical letter on this revolver. There is a cost involved, but if Colt has records on it you can get all kinds of info and having the letter increases the value of the gun.

I don't know if I would touch the drag or anything on that beauty, be very carefully changing anything or even how you clean this extraordinary firearm!
Congratulations price on something like that would be above $4000 I would think!
