My father served as a proud regular member of the RCMP for 37 years after joining the force in 1958. Sadly, he recently passed and I have since inherited his firearms. I thought I would share some of his more unique RCMP collection pieces with other enthusiasts as he would have liked.
The first photo, top right.
Adams Mk III chambered in .450 Boxer.
This revolver was issued to the NWMP. In addition to the C / MP stamp, confirmed revolvers had an apparent, sequential number stamped below the barrel, on the right side of the frame. That series of numbers apparently began with the number 1 and, from known examples, continued into the low 300's. That was consistent with the quantity of MK III Adams revolvers issued to the NWMP - approximately 326. This revolver was stamped with number 142. Matching serial numbers on frame, cylinder, hammer, trigger.
It was on charge to "C" Division (Battleford, SK) on February 13th, 1887.
Bottom right is an Enfield MK II chambered in .476
This revolver was issued to the NWMP and is stamped NWMP over 187 over CANADA on the left grip plate.
It was on charge to "F" Division (Prince Albert) on February 10th, 1894.
Top left is a Colt New Service chambered in .45 Long Colt. This revolver was issued to the RNWMP. It formed part of a shipment of 250 revolvers forwarded to the Commissioner of the RNWMP on October 24th, 1919. It is stamped RNWMP along the backstop.
Bottom left is a Colt New Service chambered in .45 Long Colt. It is stamped MP on either side of the lanyard swivel. The serial number dates this revolver in the late 1930's.
The book, if you noticed, is a copy of the October 1962 RCMP Quarterly, Vol. 28 - NO.2. It has a historical image of all the force issued sidearms up until that date.
Enjoy the pictures. These were all in service issue sidearms to force members at one time. Courage in Red.
