Looking for a scope for a long range lightweight carbon rifle, used for plinking and hunting. I have a 5-25 Mk5 on it now but I think its too much size wise and would like to get something with smaller footprint that would still perform for long range plinking to 1200 yard and for hunting as well. I would love a March 3-24 but I think an NX8 4-20 or a Razor LHT would be more practical money wise, looking for input from anyone that owns either of these, I have checked out a razor in person but not the NX8.

Definitely upsides to both, Razor is about 7 ounces lighter so almost half a pound, about 5-600 cheaper (new). Nx8 is a inch shorter, has a higher internal adjustment range. So one factor Id say would make a choice easier would be are you going to be doing more hunting or long range shooting? If hunting will it be more off hand or off a rest or bipod/tripod? That being said, if you are going to be doing more long range stuff then Id say Nx8 cause itll probly be supported along with the amount of elevation has over the Razor. Id only pick the Razor over the Nx8 would be if youll be doing a majority of off hand hunting or if your budget would benefit from having a extra 500 to play with(if buying new).

Also take a lo0k at the Eotech Vudu 5-25. Kind of a blend of both your options with being around the weight of the Nx8, even shorter than the Razor, and has internal adjustment between the Nx8 and Razor. I know Apex optics is coming out with a 3-15 thats marketed as a hunting optic that looks pretty good.

I assume you mean the NX8 2.5-20? If so I've had or still have all of those scopes (Mk5 , NX8 and Razor LHT ffp). The NX8 and LHT really fill different niches. Whereas the NX8 is more of a lighter weight tactical scope, the LHT is a crossover hunting/tactical scope. The real benefit to the LHT is if you're trying to keep weight down as it's 6-7oz lighter than the NX8. Otherwise they both have good glass (neither as good as the Mk5), great (illuminated) reticles and enough elevation to get a suitable caliber out to 1200 yards (might have to remove the zero stop on the LHT as it limits you to 11mils up from zero, depending on caliber) but the NX8 has much nicer turrets and the "feel" of toughness you expect from a tactical scope although I've had no durability issues with the LHT.

Basically if you want to save weight and some cash, get the LHT, if not get the NX8.
