Looking around for my first hand gun and I'm considering picking up the norc nz-75. Ideally I'd like to save up for a CZ-75 SP01 Shadow, or a P-226 of some kind, but since I'm still a poor student, I'd like to get a gun and still have some money left over for ammo to shoot :p.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any reviews / first hand experiance with the NZ-75. I'd also like to try out IPSC/IDPA at some point in the future aswell if that makes any difference

Personally, I would suggest a .22 for a first handgun. If you do much shooting it doesn't take long before the money spent on ammo exceeds the cost of the gun. 9mm, the cheapest of the centre-fire, still costs 4 or 5 times more than .22.

That said, I've had a Norc NZ 75 for three years. My experience:

- the gun is robust and well made
- the finish is a little crude compared to, say, a CZ
- accuracy is good (at least as good as I'm ever going to achieve with iron sights)
- fits my hand well, YMMV
- no misfires or jams so far; cycles any brand of ammo OK
- the manual is minimalist, to say the least
- easy to field strip, despite the manual
- won't win any beauty contests, but it's got a simple, purposeful look that I kind of like
- somewhat difficult to find a holster (it's a little larger than a CZ)

A CZ 75 is only $ 650.00, although I have no problems with what our Chinese brothers are producing, for the extra few dollars, as you are saving up any way, why not save up a little longer?
