Well had my NZ out to the range last friday.

Load it up rack the slide fire = click

SRF = click

After doing this a couple of time looking at the ammo shows no impact at all.

Now I have cleaned and tested with a pen and the pen does not move at all.

I know the gun works as I just did a BB coures and a level 1 with it a couple weeks ago.

Is their another way to check for the firing pin being broken.

I have depressed the FP safety and pushed on the back side of the pin and nothing can be seen through the port.

UPDATE

Well got the pin out and it had a ber on it and was uneven I smoothed that out but it still does not have enough force to fire.

I thing it had a crack and a small amount of it is missing.

I have tested again and see a little more impact, but not enough to set off the primer

I need to know the length of an NZ 85b firing pin. Mine is 55.76 mm and 1.60 mm wide.

So if anyone has one could you pull the firing pin out and measure it for me please. Thanks.

Hello Freman

Here is something to consider. I had the following problem myself. I learned about it from Gunnar at Armco (who is a great guy by the way)
The NZ85 is equipped with a firing pin safety. It locks the firing pin until the trigger is pulled all the way back. As such, there must be a balance between the firing pin safety release and the hammer release. Otherwise you can have a situation where the hammer releases BEFORE the firing pin safety releases. That means the hammer is falling on a LOCKED firing pin. The impact may be enough to give the slightest mark to the primer (or no mark at all) but the gun will not fire. You simply get a click because the firing pin is unlocked AFTER the hammer has fallen. You may have to have a smithy check the timing between the two operations. What I did was to remove the firing pin block. My problem was solved. Of course, I no longer have the firing pin safety but I still have the others (thumb safety, half-#### safety and the mechanical safety that prevents the trigger from operating if the slide is not locked.) I am NOT recommending that you do what I did but you may want to talk the situation over with a gunsmith. I'm also not saying that it couldn't be a short firing pin but that seems unlikely considering the relationship between the firing pin block release and the hammer release.
Anyway, that was my experience when my gun started going click, click at the wrong time. I'm definitely no expert here, since I've only been shooting handguns for about a year. It's just that your problem sounds just like the problem that I had. Best of luck.

Regards

George

Fremen, I checked and your firing pin is missing the last (first?) quarter inch or so :( I have replacements coming both from CZ and Norinco. Ordered a couple of CZ ones just in case the Norc ones take a looong time :)

I've never had one of these break before, either in the NZ's or CZ's, otherwise I'd have had a couple spares in stock. Now I will!

The spares I did have were (of course) pre-B CZ ones...

I'll mail one to you as soon as the first ones arrive :)

Sorry if I caused you more work than necessary. I feel terrible. It sounded so much like my experience that I thought I'd tell you about it. I even thought the same thing you did at the time it happened to me (before Gunnar straightened me out. Hi Gunnar.) I really didn't think your firing pin was ACTUALLY missing a piece. What an idiot! If we ever meet, I'll buy you a beer or a coffee. Sorry again.

No need to feel bad George. Its not hard at all to remove the pin. And if you are ever in the area I will of coures allow you to buy me a beer.

Thanks gunnar. First time for everything.

I was at Gunco today helping my buddy pic up a No4MkI with MkII sites and pig sticker. I brought the slide with and he said the same thing, and didn't have any in stock.

So thanks for everyones help.
