I was offered a Norinco NZ 85b in 9mm. BUT I cant find any reviews on it, other than its a CZ clone.
I had a CZ spo1 a few years ago and loved it, but it was pricey.

so, is the norinco NZ worth looking at ? is it accurate ? or stay far far away from it ? thanks you in advance.

I shot one once, worked fine but the fit and finish is nicer on the CZ-Shadow. Of all the Norinco pistols i'd argue it is the best one I have handled. If I remember correctly the pistol took CZ magazines but the owner told me that those magazines didn't work as well in the CZ pistols. I'd save my money and get a real CZ.

In Canada with all the run around with restricted firearms i'd say your better off buying the nicest model you can buy of each type. Ie if you are going to have a revolver you may as well get one nice one in .357, and 1 semi in 22lr etc.... for 9mm ya may as well get something nice over 10 cheap pistols because really you can only shoot so many when you go to the range. Otherwise you will end up with pistols you'll never use.

There was a great deal on Shadow's lately with retailers selling them for as low as $699, you might be able to pick one up used for a good buy.

I had one a while back...was a solid firearm..general fit and finish wasn’t too bad..it wasn’t a Cz..and the slide release was a razor if you thumbed it wrong..but I went bang as it should...ate everything..and was decently accurate...I did put Cz grips on it...felt much better than the plastic Norinco ones...

thanks for the input guys.

wow, shadows for $699 thats excellent. That really changes my mind,...unless I got the Norc REALLY cheap , why buy it.?

A Shadow is a better pistol. But at double the price, it should be.

I have 2 Norc 85s. With new sights, trigger jobs and better grips they are excellent.

if I was doing it again, and a Shadow was $700, I would buy the Shadow.

Love my NZ85b. Mags from corwin arms work with a little modification. Havent had a failure with it yet (other than ####ty ammo). Smooths out after 700 rounds or so ;)

Mine is great; had it for about 3-4 years; thousands of rounds through it. I just got into PPC, and shot my first 1500 qualifying match last saturday with it; scored 1072/1500; not bad for a 60 year old beginner with tired eyes. It's the pistol, not me. I have added CZ over-molded grips as they are way better than the stock nork ones. I am using stock sights. I liked it so much that I looked for a NP40 (same pistol in .40 S & W) and could not find one, so I bought a Jericho (another CZ clone); nice gun, but I still like my NZ85 better. CZ75 mags work fine in mine with no modification. It will feed 14-15 rounds of 9 mm out of a 40 Jericho mag reliably as well. They also just snap in and fit without mods.

I did have a bit of a time finding a holster for it, but an Uncle Mike's size 20 works well.
