O/U 20ga for field use

I got a chance to see and handle some of the Yildiz (O/U and SxS) line this past labour day weekend at a gunshow. I was impressed with the fit and finish. Also the wood was nicer than that on my CZ. I would have bought one of those instead.

iga condor from stoeger isn't a bad gun for the money. off the shelf you may find the top barrel is full choke , but ofcourse the option is there to have it opened up. the other draw back is the single trigger which is non selective. i've had one for 15 years and while the metal finish is alright, the wood is only so,so. it has been a good shooter with no problems. to go to a 20 ga. in browning, beretta etc. is going to run over $1000.00 especially in 20 ga. unless you can find one where some body has done something to really devalue it.
The yildiz is nice and light but you gotta keep them sparkling clean and oiled or else they get all scratched up where they break.
I would go with the Condor with both the 20 and 12 gauge barrels. This way you can switch back and forth when you need to depending on hunts and you wont feel bad what you drop it or scratch it because its only worth 400 bucks.
Watch the Buy Sell forum on here. Quiet often there are Doubles to be had at a good price. I know there is a Francci on there right now that is just over 1K if you can get a little more $$

I don't understand what you mean about "they get all scratched up where they break."
If you're going to buy a 20ga on a 12ga frame, you loose all the advantage of a small bore shotgun as it will be as heavy, and handle like a 12ga. Better to buy a beater 870/12ga for duck hunting and a nice light 20ga for upland.

You can also keep your eyes open for a used Winchester 101 in 20g in that price range.
They come up now and then, and are very nice, light guns. In any case, as Supercub has mentioned, look for one that is built on a true 20g frame, and not a 12g frame with 20g tubes, as they can be heavy, and not the right balance for a 20g.
I would also think hard about a 20g semi-auto - a used Beretta should be around that price, (I absolutely love mine!) or even look at new Stoegers etc.
