How often, if ever, do you change the barrel firing order on your o/u? I have two o/us one with a selectable trigger and one with a non-selectable that fires the bottom barrel first. Does it matter to you whether your trigger is selectable or not? Is it a feature you use?

I've had a couple of shotguns with selectable triggers and NEVER used the option.

On the other hand, I have a 20ga SxS with double triggers and switch back and forth all the time as it's much simpler than using that selector thingy.

I'd much rather double triggers and extractors (instead of ejectors) for hunting.

I like mine selectable. I have a modified choke in the bottom and use it for singles so in this case I have the bottom barrel fire first. Now I have a full choke in my top barrel and when shooting handicap I have the top shoot first.
If I was shooting doubles I would set the bottom to shoot first of course. I like the feature and would use it in this fashion even with different chokes.

My old O/U had the same feature with fixed chokes. Improved modified on the bottom and full on the top and I used it in the same way.

For trap, I think it is an important feature. I don't know how it would work without it ?

Clay, in your O/U that does not have the selectable trigger, what are the chokes ? are they fixed or not ??

If they are not fixed it would just be a matter of changing chokes to suite what pattern you wanted to fire first. Kinda a hassel really.

He's probably got fixed SK/SK in his non-selectable and can't figure out which bbl to shoot first :p:p:p

I use my bbl selectors from time to time, at the range for trap (16yd or handicap), and also for occasional shotgun games like bushwhacker and Annie Oakley.

Hunting, I usually leave the bottom (mod) first for grouse. I do it backwards for ducks (full/mod). Don't ask me why.

If I ever can get a sxs 20g, I will most definately have double triggers like supercub... but for now both my 20g's are o/u single triggers, as is my 12g o/u.

I use the "Selective" feature quite often when shooting 5-stand, and occassionally while shooting Sporting. Depending on target presentation,
you may well get a "close" and a "far", then need to switch order to "far" then
"close" at the next station - avoids swapping chokes around.

You're funny. ;)

You raise a good point about Annie's and miss and outs. I have used the selector in these games although on one gun that I used to own too much switching would cause the occasional double.

Jacky, I have choke tubes in both guns and don't consider it much of a problem changing them although I usually put in a pair of Lt. Mods and only change for a very close target.

BB, where I shoot five stand it's a random presentation although I get the benefit of switching barrels on five stand when you know how the presentations are coming.

In the field, I use a twin trigger sxs and like the double trigger for game.

I've used mine a couple of times (Citori Full and "Fuller", for trap), but it's probably just as mental a thing to do as these wingnuts who are convinced that an extra layer of electrical tape on their stock is going to let them run 100 straight :)

I've owned several Brno O/U shotguns and they have the double trigger. It was a neat set up as you could use the front trigger to fire the top barrel and then use the rear trigger to fire the bottom. Or, you could pull the rear triger once to fire the bottom and then pull it again to fire the top which saved switching triggers. Several barrels fit the frame from shotgun in 12 and 16 gauge, rifle/ shotgun combos and double rifles. They are getting harder to come by.

I always have mine set to bottom first. As I just load one shell for singles, playing with the selector is a dangerous (to my score) activity.
