I have a BRNO over/under 12ga. With fixed/full choke barrels and I want to hunt deer with this gun. Is it safe to shoot slugs through these types of barrels or would normal buckshot be the better option?
What type of distance you looking at shooting?
I shot buckshot for many years when I was in a shotgun deer area and got some very good patterns with a full choke and certain brands/pellet counts.
But 35 yards was about the best you could hope for and keep enough pellets in the vitals for a humane kill.
You can squeeze a rifled slug through a full choke "safely", but again, you may have to try a few different brands/weights before you find something you are happy with.
