hi Guys

i am looking for a 12 gauge shotgun... hopefully one that i can use for clays and also for a little upland / duck hunting... i just want to get into the sport for starters and may buy a specialized gun later if i REALLY get into any of the sports

my Preference would be to get an O/U, however i am left handed and left eye dominant so most of the guns without cast on adjustments are a no go for me.

would you be able to recommend any O/Us that have cast on adjustments? or come built for lefties?

Budget would be around C$2000

my fall back option would be a Beretta AL391 semi... those come with cast on adjustments.

Will appreciate your help

There are no production guns that I'm aware of that come with cast on unless they are specially ordered. Your options would be to install an adjustable comb or get a replacement stock. As you are in Richmond Hill I'd suggest a visit up to Precision Arms in King as they sometimes have cast on stocks available for sale or can get you one.

My Brownig 625 with adjustable comb has cost on and off adjustments as well as height adjustment.

Most adjustable combs have it as well. They aren't all that expensive when you consider the cost of the gun.

The Beretta 686ES was available in a left handed version however they are hard to find. If there is none in stock in Canada you may be months or years waiting for one. Cost is about $2100 before taxes.

re lefty shotgun

Browning made a special run of 625 shotguns that are left handed and even have a left hand palm swell. One of our club members in kelowna has one and I see them on the internet cheaper than the regular 625's. you may have to get one from the U.S. but that is no big deal. I have seen them in Canada also on the net.

If you are just starting out and want a do-all type gun to start, you really can't go wrong with the 391 Urika... they have a sporting model with extended chokes, Kick-Off etc. that would fill bill well for you. It's a gem to shoot and very versatile.

There's aguy in Ontario hat can re-cast your gun. I shoot left as well and have a right handed Beretta. I will be sending him my stock after this season to get mine done.
If you find a deal on a right handed gun, get it and then get it re-cast. Seems to me he quoted me $190.00.
