so i have a glock17 9mm and a CZ 75-b 9mm im looking to do some reloads for them but id like to know what OAL will work for both guns

What bullet are you using?

The truncated cone bullets need a bit of room to move otherwise they tend to stall on the ramp. 1.125 is a good place to start with them.

For round nose or the ogive profile bullets, somewhere between 1.130 and 1.150 should work. The max is 1.169, and I tend to load long when working up a load. I find I've had fewer issues loading too long than too short.

There has been a lot of talk about the CZ's prefering slightly shorter ammo. The top round in the mag can be pulled forward and touch the feedramp, so partly full mag drops can be an issue with longer ammo apparently.

Canuck's your man... for my SP01 Shadow, I use 1.15 for the flattened-nose, and 1.125 for the round. It's all about where the shoulders of the bullets hit the rifling. Too long and it may not lock-up properly, or the bullet may get squished into the case, or it may not clear the mags, etc, properly. Too short, and you get dangerous case pressures.

I actually took a Dremel tool, and cut a two gashes in a sized brass. I lightly hand placed a bullet into the case neck, and the bullet went in loosely. I chambered it, ejected it, and measured the max OAL to the lands (I don't remember the measurement, which tells you that was a bit of a waste of time :))

If in doubt, load 50 in 1.125" (that's probably the longest you'll see in the recipes). Shoot them off, and see if you have any feed problems (stick a chrony in front and measure the speeds). Shorten as needed, but adjust the powder if necessary.

It's easier, I think, for sports like IPSC, where we tend to load on the light side (just above power factor). If you were playing with Max loads (+P), you'd have less wiggle room...

How would you describe CamPro 125 RN Bullets - They are not a true round nose - neither are they truncated.

I did this too with my Beretta 92A1 - the length at with the bullet touched the lands was way longer than the max length the mag would allow

CZ will need to be 1.11 to 1.13 at the longest.

They will feed in the Glock no problems. I had both guns for awhile, and thats how I was loading the AIM 124 gr RN.

Take the barrel out of the CZ and with a couple dummy round drop them into the chamber, and make sure they drop in without force, and sit flush. They should also drop free with little to no force.

I seat mine at 1.130 for my g34 with 124g aim cast bullets. Just take the barrel out of both guns and put them by your press. Start seating a bullet (minus the powder and minus the primer) long, and keep shortening the OAL via the die until the bullets will chamber in both barrels. Measure the OAL at that time and check it against your data to ensure that this length is not over the max OAL in the data. If it's within limits, then you've found your max OAL that works for both of your guns. That's what I'd do anyhoo...
