hey folks,

whats the overall length of an 18" barreled remington (3", non-magnum) 870 with factory top-folder attached?

ie: is it legal, nonrestricted?
doesnt look very sheeple friendly, am i going to get hassled about it? i wont be running around downtown toronto with it - id like something compact that i can pack for remote camping and figured that this would be the most compact yet still effective solution.
if i get near civilization it should be small enough to just put inside my pack (or even strap under the rain cover of the pack) so noone freaks out, which i cant do with even the most compact rifle.

I have an 18" barrel 870 express (3") magnum. If I put the Choate top-folding stock on it, it measures just under 28", which means it is still non-restricted (over 26" overall length). I'm not sure about factory top-folding stocks, but with the Choate attached and folded, the back end doesn't protrude to far back from the body. So unless the factory top folding stock is very short when folded, it's a safe bet that it will make the non-restricted category.

With the OEM top folder installed in conjuction with an 18" P barrel, the OAL is 28".

With a OEM 2 round extension, it's a bit less than 28.5". The extension extends about a 1/2 inch further out from the 18 barrel.

It's all good when kept over a 26" OAL. :D

Regards.
