When you guys trim brass do you get to the exact same OAL in each case or is not a big deal to be a few thous off on cases? Im getting cases that are about .006 off max OAL but some differ in size. Would this effect accuracy or brass life from one case to the next in the same lot?

Cheers!!

When I trim, I trim to the exact same length for all cases but I'm fairly ocd. I don't think it matters to brass life at all, accuracy may be off marginally but it depends on what your use of the rounds are, plinking or precision target shooting. For everyday shooting not a problem at all to be different by a few thou variance from case to case IMHO.

I want them to all be the same exact length when I am crimping the bullets, but not necessarily for loads with no crimp. That does not mean I trim after every firing, far from it. I keep checking the lot of brass after every reload and when one does get up close to the max I trim them all. For hunting and informal targets, this method has served me well. If you are crimping your loads then the OAL of the brass should be kept exact or your crimps may not be even. This will result in differences in the bullet "pull" when fired.

My question is are you a good enough shooter to notice that the extra thousandth or 2 gripping the belly for longer then a shorter case. Will it effect accuracy? yes but we are not machines. Human error will be much greater then an extra thousandth of neck length
