It was an interesting day. My first time hunting, lots of fun, and hitting a moving target at 30-40 yds isn't quite as easy as it looks ... Lots of REALLY nice firearms around also.

The place was nice, I was able to hook my wheelchair up to the back of an atv (with myself driving, of course) so moving around from station to station was relatively simple once we figured everything out.

I don't really know how many I hit for sure since several people were firing at once, but I'm pretty sure I hit at least 3 of them. Left the day with 5 birds.

They can be deceitful critters .... Several times I fired, saw the bird shudder, sometimes feathers flew, and keep right on flying, we joked around that was the bird was doing was actually ducking ...

After it had happened a few times I just kept on firing until a bird hit the ground, it got me some dirty looks, but it worked. :D

Cleaning those critters isn't nearly as dirty and touchy as I expected it to be.

Now I gotta figure out how to cook these things.

I am glad you clarified that - my eyes bugged out when I read the first part of the sentence!

Glad to hear you are getting out there, that is awesome. Where are the photos?

Cheers,

Ian

Woulda been one hellova ride indeed ... :D
We didn't have any cameras, so no pictures were taken. (Unless some of the other groups had one and took some, but I have no idea who they were anyway).

I sure did .... It was simply amazing to see those relatively small things get hit again and again and keep on flying/gliding. The first couple of times I had already lowered my gun to see where the bird would fall. They did go down eventually except for 6 who got away/were not recovered (out of 90 birds in total, 5 for each hunter).

Glad to hear you had fun! I guess you found out that pheasants ARE tough birds after all eh? ;)
