Stevens Favorites full Octagon barrel was available in 1907 , the
part Octagon/Round had been around since 1889.

Very nice collection. I am a fan of single shot rifles with octagon barrel. Have a couple of 1885 new production that are fun to shoot, one in 17hmr.

Do you think the later full octagon barrels came about due to Savage [by that time they had purchased Joshua's company] trying to reduce manufacturing costs in having to turn 2/3rds of the barrels to round from octagon?

Second part of the question; was that why most of the later production, other than the circa 1970's Favorites which had no interchangeable parts to the originals, had fully round barrels?

Third part; have you cleaned the Ideal 44 1/2 in .22 LR you recently scored yet? If so, pictures please!
