Hard to believe, but it's already October 13. and no purchases yet.

So I start, here is what I picked up today.
A rebuild Springfield 1903 A3.
Can anybody tell me who rebuild the rifle?

It has been rebuilt/overhauled at some point as evidenced by the re-Parkerizing job. The stock is an 03-A3 stock, most likely a Smith-Corona as a Remington stock would also show the letters "RA" next to the other markings. If it was a US Arsenal overhaul the stock would be stamped with the identifying letters of the overhaul facility on the left side. There is a good chance that it was a private rebuild. Seems to have a Remington bolt and an early pattern Rem 03-A3 trigger guard. If you provide the s/n, receiver markings and markings on top of the barrel behind the front sight I can tell you more. Most Remington 03-A3 parts are stamped with the letter "R"and most parts, other than the receiver and barrel, were originally blued. If the barrel is sound and the stock bedding is set up right it will be a good shooter.
 
It is a rebuild, by a company like James river, Aim or Gibbs, I just don't know which one, because there are no indications.
The stock is new, so is the barrel, as a matter of fact the whole gun looks new.
The receiver and bolt are Remington, and according to the serial number, the rifle was manufactured in 1942.
 
Just checked, it's four groove rifling, and the bore looks brand spanking new. :)
what do these rifles go for in Canada, if you can find one?
 
That would make it a Criterion commercial barrel. The stock cartouche also looks like a repro. I don't know about pricing on this one, but a rebuild or rebarrel with all GI parts in ex condition should bring $1200 or thereabouts.
 
Thank you. Why do you think it's Yugo? Working theory is that those were lightly serviced in some of the Easter European countries, but it's just a theory. Do you have any definite info?

No definitive proof that it is Yugo, just that I have held 2 SVT40s like yours now from older Canadian imports and they have that vertical serial number stamped in the buttstock just like the Yugoslavian Refurb K98s I have. Again, it's only a hunch of mine, the best theory I have at the moment.
 
A mismatched No5 Mk1. But it was in my price range ... and it looks OK from a distance :)



And a Webley Mk IV. It'll probably be at least another couple of weeks to finish the paperwork.

 
Since I got my license in August, already at my fourth and last for a while (I keep telling myself lol).. Could not for the life of me stay away from the mosin after loving my sks. The back end of the stock could use some work, but I kind of like the ruggedness in it. Smooth bolt and matching serial #s on almost all of it.
