October Purchases

Why does 'bubba' have to do those things! :runaway:

Still it looks very nice and you don't see those too often. Is it still in its original caliber? A good find in any case.

I know. I think everything is original except for operating rod/sleeve as it has a different serial number. The serial number is sanded away off the butt stock, but what is left of the finish matches the hand guard wood which has the right serial number so I assume it is the original stock.

i received my first milsurp this weekend - an sks from canadaammo.

Took me the better part of today, plus a few hours last night to get all the cosmo cleaned off.

Longest part was cleaning the stock.. I used a heat gun.... need to find a better method for cleaning the furniture.

Cosmo is some nasty nasty stuff.

Mineral spirits works very nice for the metal stuff

Mint 44' Long Branch, looks like it just rolled off the assembly line!

While not a milsurp firearm, good reference books are indispensable for the serious collector and collectible in their own right.

Like virtually all of them though, it's rock-hard.

Nice Type 14 holster! Yes, mine is pretty stiff as well. Must mean you have somehting to tuck into it?

Not a lot of difference there at all, kind of an amalgamation of the Berdan I, II and the Mauser went into the design of the Mosin Nagant.

The MN, lasted a lot longer though on the battle fields.
