Odd 30cal Silvertips

Maybe not odd but I don’t know what to do with them. 150gr Win ST’s. I bought them to load 30-30 but they are a bit long and more pointed (danger?) than the 30-30 factory STs I have. Thought I’d load 30-06 but if loaded to the cannelure they are below min OAL.
Too long for 30-30, too short for 30-06. Load 30-06 to desired length and ignore cannelure and forego crimping? Are these for a different cartridge? .308?

Probably for the 308 then. I have facotry 308 ammo with those bullets loded in it. And as for the too short 3006, does it not catch the mag lips any more and pops out? Its only 0.070" shorter thats less then 2mm. If that flat wasnt on the bullets face and they were pointed they would be correct oal

Not the old ones I remember reloading for 30/30 for sure. More like 300 savage top one , 303 savage bottom one was like your 30/30 shown

Load to whatever OAL you like. No need to crimp. 3006 has a long neck with lots of neck tension.

30-30 is a Marlin 336, 30-06 is a Win M70

Understand. I would keep them out of the lever but I am a cautious reloader some here would say

The 30,06 case why is there a what looks like a grove at the shoulder ? The base of the cartridge also looks like its deformed ( different color) marks from a forming dies/ reloading ?

The 30-06 cases are a dull finish. They had turned a bit reddish in the tumbler so I cleaned them off with some Brasso, hence the dullness. What you see are the shinier parts where the resizing die did its thing.
