I have a Cabelas Pine Ridge Tactical Turret Scope in 6-18 mounted on my savage 223. It is advertised to have 1/4 MOA adjustment for windage & elevation. The windage is indeed 1/4 MOA however the "clicks" for the elevation knob are much finer (~132 clicks per full turn vs. 56 click for windage). I have been struggling for some time to figure out exactly what each click of elevation translates to.
Simple math would tell me that if the adjustment per full turn was the same for elevation and windage: each elevation click would equal ~ 0.106". Odd!
Today I shot several groups at 100 yards trying to get a picture of what was going on. I found that in fact each click of elevation is equal to approximately 0.08" or about 12.5 click per MOA.
Does this sound at all plausible? I tried this at several different elevations with identical results. Has there ever been a scope with adjustments similar to this?

) in a drill chuck and polished the markings off. One of these days I'll take it to the trophy shop and get the MOA graduations engraved on it. Until then I have a piece of masking tape with pen marks wrapped around the turret. That way I can range the target, check the drop chart, and dial up. Mine dials up three full turns and then some which is more than enough to get me out to 1000yd.
