Recently scooped a Marlin 336RC, 1958 model, 20" barrel. The 30-30 has been xx'd out and near the rear end of the barrel, left side, .32 SPL. AP has been stamped. I am curious if anyone has run across this on these rifles. My guess is that AP is the initial of the person who did the work.

I am going to try to get the old girl out in the sunlight and crank off a few rounds. It has a Bushnell Banner scope mounted.

Nice old rifle. I hunt with a .32 Spl Winchester 94, 1958 model. May have to keep this one. :p

Thanks in advance for any info. :)

Edit: the old Marlin is also a 1958. Looks like I'm buggered. Have to keep it.

Looks like you're going to have to have a "1958-Off" at the range! I love the old marlins! Especially the old square bolt 1889's, 1893's, 93's, 1936's, and 36's!!! I have 7 or 8 of the old square bolts.

Also a couple 336's for good measure and to get a lever in my favourite Caliber for Deer hunting, the ole' .35 Remington! I have a pair, a 336RC .30-30 and a 336SC in .35 Rem.

Very nice rifles!

Sounds like yours was re-bored to .321 for the 32Spl. Wonder if it was because of a crappy .308 bore or just a hankerin' to upsize the hole makin' capability!

I have my dad's 35 Remington Marlin 336RC and it's in very good condition, it seems the RC designation stood for Rifle/Carbine. Wonderful rifle, it even has the old hinged flip scope rings to allow use of the iron sights. Just wish I could locate some 200 grain ammo for it, Dad used to use CIL ammo in 200 grain.
