I picked this sight up in the UK, it doesn't have a makers marks on it. Dose anyone recognize it?

Looks similar to the apeture sight used on the No.7 .22LR rifles.
I'm not absolutly certain that that's what it is though.

The 6 hole aperture looks like Parker Hale, see if there are any marks on the back of it, it just unscrews off the ladder. ParkerHale made a sight like that. I have the same aperture on my 5B

.....' Looks like a good alternative to the VERY expensive Parker Hale Target sights. Now, where could I get one ? .... Seriously, you might want to check some of the UK Enfield/Target/Military Shooters forums. .... David K.

odd sight

I've got to say that sight looks like a standard Mk I sight, drilled and tapped to accept the PH aperture. The battle aperture has been removed and a line marked on the remaining flat for windage adjustment. A screw has been fed thought the hole where the pin would hold it to the No 4 rifle to allow for windage adjustment. As far as the rest of it, I would say a base made up for some other rifle? Thats my guess.

from the milsurp knowledge base

look at No7 and add the PH 6 hole appature

also it looks like No7 in the book needs some sort of base to mount it on

which it appears you have

Modified Sight

Anvil, Your sight is a Parker Hale modified No4 Enfield Mk1 sight, designed to fit the British L81A1 Cadet rifle which is a .22 version of the Parker Hale 1200TX based on the Spanish Mauser action. Many of these sights showed up in the US minus the mounting bracket, as an upgrade for the No4 military rifles. They have the windage adjustment, but some permanent modifications have to be made to the No4 to make them work. AJ Parker also marketed a similar sight for the L81A1, but theirs was new made and not a modified No4 sight, looking more like the PH4 sight. Regards, Wayne

Thanks for the replies. With the amount of windage ajustment on this sight it makes sense that it is a .22 sight.
I guess I will have to find a rifle to go with it. :)

Anyone have a goo picture of an L81A1?

The L81A1 Cadet rifle is actually a 7.62 caliber rifle, not .22 as I errorneously typed in before. It is a version of the PH M82 with somewhat shorter woodwork.
