Odd question: Where can I get some animal horns? (for art purposes)

Yea, I know it is a weird request, but I would really like some cheap horns (NOT antlers, at least not the deer/elk kind). Just some horns like big horn sheep, cows, bulls, bison, etc... Bent and only one point.

Anyone know of any I could get them anywhere cheap for a project I am working on? (art project, as a hobby). Like a website or a supplier, or maybe someone has some laying around? I would prefer them to be larger, but anything works, as long as it is a horn, and preferably bent.

I only need one pair.

The Big Horn, Dall, Stone's sheep tags and bison tags are highly coveted, in B.C. anyway, and I would be shocked if anyone would give up such a trophy. Horns from beef cattle would probably be easiest and plentiful to find IMO.

Yup. I came to that conclusion as well after searching a bit (300$ + for the big horn sheep :( )

Any idea who would have some nicely bent and cheap steer/cattle horns?

I work in an abbatoir and we get some beef with horns and the odd sheep and goats that have nice horns. Never kept them because I didn't have a use for them. You would be welcome to them.

Darn, I am a bit too far from you to get them in Person (I am in Eastern ontario). I would gladly take a pair or two of horns from you (bovine or sheep. The bigger, the better).

As for the powder horns...people probably want a lot for those! I also would prefer the horns to have no drillings/no workmanship, just cutoff the animal and that's it.

if you can find a farm the rases animals of this sort thy most often cut the horns off to keep them from fighting DUTCH

You can get a cheap new powder horn...not an old school oringal...look at basspro.com they schould have something if you can find nothing else.

Google Buffalo farms in your area. They usually keep the horns on for the skull displays. Might have a couple of skulls with damaged singles that you could cut off and make a pair. A tannery might also have some. Halfords in Edmonton used to have some.

I will look into these things guys. Thanks for the info!

Ideally, minus the carving and metal bits, THIS is the shape of horn I am after (a pair of them):

Interesting... I'd better start researching farms in the area!

Generally, steer are dehorned when their pretty young. So they don't have horns.

I'd think it would be a special case if they would be chopping off horns to keep them from fighting, and even then, they probably wouldn't be very big if done on a regular basis.

An abattoir may be your best bet.

Ads in papers in farming communites may also help.
