Odd request from prospective buyer

I do it with "low feed back score".
Just 2 weeks ago I found a rifle for sale in the EE. He only had 1 trader feed back,...and it NEGATIVE ,lol. So I asked for a news paper in the pic....& he never got back to me. Hmmmmm.........

There's many ways to prove you have the item, today's paper just happens to be what the guy asked for.
Cheers

Exactly.........last week I asked a guy to take a picture of his gun with a 1779 8 Reales Mexican coin and a 15th century leather bound Bible..........still waiting, must be a fraud!:rolleyes:

I had someone ask for a photo of the pistol and a...teaspoon.
No worries, it was all good, I understand a buyer wants to not be ripped off and if it makes him more comfortable, I'll get a spoon!

I've asked for pics to prove the seller has the item... Today's paper & your username on a piece of paper in the pic would prove to me you have it...

And I would not take it personally, when someone doesn't know you it is not unreasonable to ask for specific pics etc...

Cheers
Jay
P.S. Here is a pic I asked for from a seller to prove he had the item as there was no way for him to grab the image off the net or create it & send it in a few minutes... What did I ask him to put in the pic?

Three peppermints in a "safe" place?

Lots of forums I frequent require you to post your username on a piece of paper with the date with teh item you post for sale.

They're just covering their bases. I wouldn't look at it as not trusting you or anything negative like that. As someone mentioned above, there is actually a sticky suggesting that people do this exact kind of thing.

I still have a friend ask me to buy her some things on eBay because she doesn't feel safe using her credit card online. She doesn't feel comfortable at all with this online retail sales thing even though the seller is an established retailer and the credit card company covers any fraud losses.
Buying a firearm online is still unsettling to some folks, and I'll abide by any reasonable requests for verification if I want to sell any of my stuff.
