oddball, I bought a Marlin XL 7

im counting down the days fellas.

from everything ive been looking at since this post, im lookin forward to it.

an the 30-06 itself !
 
sussin out the Serial number for production Date............ i have a
#91****74 rifle, roumers have it this is a 2009 model? is that correct guys?
did a breif search thru marlin owners and lead me to some interesting stuff, confusing at best.
alot to do with last (2) ## will determine which month was made. an the first (2) ## will determine Year?

In other words, The majority of X guns with 917 serial numbers were made in North Haven by Marlin employees.

The guns that were made at the Remington plant by Remington employees will have the REP proof mark on the right side of the barrel."

Higher rings for the 50s. The mount shouldn't make any diff either way.

SC, they mounts can be the same if they are sitting atop a weaver base thingy majiggy as the base gives it that extra clearance, just looking with the scope thats on it X40, an im almost thinking the X50 might fit, especially seeing as the barrel band is nothing too drastic or large...
the rifle is in the mai lstill.... gun shop is calling this week
