ODPL Multi-Gun Match - Sept 27th, 2008!

One day left: (Emails going out to those who pre-booked).
Squad 1: 1 Empty Slot (To remian open for walk on)
Squad 2: 1 Empty Slot (To remain open for Walk on)
Squad 3: 4 Empty Slots
Squad 4: 8 Empty Slots

Nice prizes. Here's a question someone may have already brought up - what if I shoot in first squad and I'm not staying for the whole event? How am I going to know if I win or not?

Here is the root problem to all retarded range rules and regs. Lazy, ignorant, or biased RO's and board members who subscribe to the "everyone included" mentality.

TDC

For someone who is not shooting the match you sure are doing alot of #####ing. Why don't you take off and leave this thread alone, I am sure you could find a local event to #### on.
I for one have never shot a multigun and this is a great way to get introduced to it.
If the ubber elite like yourself want a match where slings are allowed then get off your ass and organize one.Guys like Jarlath encourage reletive newbies to the action shooting game to get out and participate and grow the sport.

Yeah, maybe Hical's got a point, after all we're all friends and these aren't sanctioned matches. It's kinda hard to ruin your friends day, DQ him/her AND take their money. Nobody ever got injured. :D Even then, we'd drag you into the bush, split up your gear and go on with the match. :D Ya won't make the same mistake again.

As a first timer to 3gun for anyone new, I'm going to say take your time and breathe. :D I guarantee you'll have fun.

I hope more of you show up.

Se ya there.

Anyone who attends the match as a competitor automatically get their name in the draw. There is no other way to do so. Ensure that you get your Email on the signup sheets. That is how I will be contacting the winners. Should you stay until the end of the match and you are still there I will gladly take a picture of you recieving your prize. Once your name is drawn you will not be eligible for the remaining draws. You can also refuse to accept the prizes (I am not a glock person so I'd have to refuse personally), at which time a new draw for the item occurs.

Remember not to do one thing. Do NOT draw a Safety Violation. Take your take, enjoy yourself and be safe.

I encourage everyone to get out and participate. Here is to hoping that the weather misses us. But it is a rain or shine event.

So... what's the diff..? and what does that really mean anyway....

Means these matches are more relaxed, like I'm not keeping score, I'm there for the fun factor. So I wouldn't want to see anyone DQd because of a brain fart. Capish?

Well... Being our first Multi-gun and highly self critical. I would say that our overall result was just OK.

Time overruns were huge to the point we had to cut out whole stages... (Boo).

16 brave souls defended themselves well from the zombies and were able to retrieve the anti-zombie vaccine and save the day. We @ Galt's ODPL division took away invaluable experience and knowledge for running the next multi-gun at our location. We hope that to all those who attended that we performed well enough despite the delays.

I will not lie by saying my feet want at least a year to recover from all that walking and setup :)

Many toys were brought out and many individuals found that while under-10" shotgun barrels are fun for shooting clays, they really suck for 50m slug shots. Many many zombie-dogs fell before the onslaught of those kitted out for zombie defense.
Weather was a very light drizzle the whole day. I will hopefully have all the results tabulated and submitted for posting on the website by tomorrow evening.

Thank you all for helping us learn and for helping us enjoy our sport.

Jarlath you and Rick ROCK.
What a fantastic match and who else but you could come up with a real German Sheperd to as the final touch to the "I am legend" theme, BRILLIANT.
The only thing that would have made the day better would have been for you join in on the fun and not spend your entire day busting you ass so we could enjoy ourselves.
My sincerest thank you for a job very well done. Now get up off your ass and put another one together.:dancingbanana::dancingbanana:
Just joking Mike, take a day or two rest up and then start working on the next match.:D:runaway::runaway::runaway:

Worry not. I have at least 2 stages already for the next Multigun :) Tee hee... Galt's official ODPL matches are finished for this year, but we'll be back next year with another multigun and at least a couple regular ones.

Thanks for the kind words. Just like we have strived to do. As we get better and better here at Galt, we hope to bring out more and more people. As people become more involved and more enthusiastic, we'll put them to work for us . Some nice slick gear at the match (Still think that Sig Rifle is very sweet looking). It is unfortunate that we have some competitors suffer equipment failures througout the match, and that I had to DQ a couple individuals. Live and learn (Even I've been DQ'd for the exact same reason, and you only do it ONCE).

Yeah, we ran late and I had to leave early - but fun all the way. The drizzle was barely noticeable, and there's something about a 3-meter carbine target that's just fun.... the cans made great targets too.

I think it all went very well indeed. :D Everybody got to shoot, :( 'cept Jarlath.

Cutting back a few stages was no biggie for me, there were lots and lots of targets and pepper poppers in variety to shoot. I noticed the stages weren't exagerated with no shoot targets as some I've been to.

Hanging bowling pins we shot with slugs at maybe 10 yards. That was challenging for some.
They set up this tiny contraption that when hit, it launched a popcan 10 feet in the air and you have to shoot it, and that was after we got to shot about ten large tins filled with expanding foam while standing, or kneeling in the back of a pick-up truck.

Pepper poppers shot with slugs at say, 75 yards. Small clay pidgeons at each side to shoot with a gauge as you make your way to what I liked how the targets were set up sideways on the ground to similate zombie dogs transitioning to pistol and shot on the move. And a few poppers at 40 yards while retreating. I'd like to encourage future set ups to include targets shot on the move. Much more challenging than a moving target alone.

Nicely done. I think the ranges available to us were well used with how the stages were set up from one to another all the way down to the 200 yard line.

Met up with some old friends as well as some new ones from CGN.... you're all a good bunch of Joe's. :D Thanks for the fun time, I went home with a smile today. :)

I didn't win a prize this time, though I was the one who picked the tickets out of the can for those that did, ;) I'll take my cut in ammo, thank you, :) congrats to ya all.

Thanks to all who came out, without the many that did, it couldn't have been the same, and all those who took part organizing this great shoot for us.... I'll be back. ;) I hope you will too.

Stop it. I'm gonna mope if you guys keep reminding me :)

Well the basic idea was amulti-gun = Lots of ammo (IMHO), Shoot shoot shoot, Except that one, shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot.

I believe that we will be making a couple more of the can launchers, they are supra fun by the looks of it :)
Yeah, we had an SUV for staging a longgun for over hood shots, and the big 3/4ton Ram for shooting all the tins from the back. I'm glad to say the only wipeout on the damp grass was me and I still blame the empty SG hulls.

Yeah I wanted a full variety for our first multi-gun match. I way underestimated the time required for loading etc, but by the end of the second squad we had learned how to speed it up immensly. (Squad 1 of 6 shooters, took 4 hours to run through, Squad 2-3 of 10 guys took just a hair over 3 hours.) My thanks to Pete D. & Dave H for all their help and advice as well as to all the rest with their suggestions and critiques. I make no qualms about it. We are new and learning as our average experience in action shooting is only two years or so, I'd say we are coming along quite nicely.

Worry not Jarlath...

Hosting matches is a lot of work and it takes a few under the belt before you can say you're getting really good at it... The first match me and a couple other guys hosted was almost a complete cluster-F***...
We bit off a bit more than we could chew hosting a FOUR gun match, but it didn't go too badly... :D
It gets easier and more efficient with experince. Believe me.

great match

You did a good job putting on a good match, be proud of what you and your club did today. You completed your first three gun match and shooters loved it. You learned and each time it gets better.

You worked hard with Rick and Al and put out a quality product....I would come back to your match anytime.

PS how is your back after trying break dancing....you can wipe out with the best of them buddy.
