***OFFICIAL*** FAMAE SG 542 SEMI-AUTO .308 is NON-RESTRICTED **ACCEPTING PRE-ORDERS**

So, the chamber and the bore are both chrome lined?
I know the chamber is but from what I understand, the
bore is treated/blued but not chromelined…
Am I wrong?

The rifle we received had a chrome lined barrel, don't see why things would change for production. Most military rifles have chrome lined barrels or some sort of corrosion treatment.

Perhaps TI could find out and confirm this is the case to lay this question to rest once and for all? Whether it's a real concern or not, it seems to me that a lot of potential sales are hinging on this issue. IMO, until TI confirms this 100%, buyers are assuming they won't be chromed based on ERE's rifles. ;)

I'm really wondering why people have such a boner for Chrome lined barrel? It's not Call of Duty:Ghosts... it doesn't REALLY make the rifle more deadly. ;)

Seriously though... who's burning corrosive .308 these days? No one? New barrels are $320! 99%+ of guys here won't burn out a barrel on these a lifetime!

Actually I would prefer if it wasn't… Two of my most accurate rifles are not chromelined, including a colt H BAR 6601. I just want to know for sure which it is or isn't.

I'm going to be surprised if any of the SG542 rifles get here with chrome lined barrels, I can't find anything on the net to indicate that Famae has ever made anything chrome lined. If there is evidence to say they have I'd be interested in seeing it.

TI said themselves earlier in this thread that their production sample had a chrome lined barrel. I had PM'd TI to confirm (some time ago before that) that these will be chrome lined and he said that they would be.

For a rifle of this type, chrome (or some other lining like melonite) is the way to go if one has the choice....(IMHO).

I know, I looked everywhere and that's exactly what I found.

I was privy to an email from the sales rep Hugo Hechenleitner at Famae, and he said Famae does not chrome line.

Well, hopefully a subcontractor will do it (chrome lined or melonited) for them. Where does the Chilean military get their chrome lined barrels on their issue SG 542's? (i'm assuming they are chrome lined as issued).

I generally don't like to butt into dealers' threads, but a lot of battle rifles of the old days don't have chromelined barrels, such as HK G3 and many versions of FN FAL. So I am not surprised if FAMAE does not chromeline their SG542.

No chrome lining is not a deal breaker.

Especially for a rifle of this type. Have people got so spoiled and hung up on extras that this is a knock on the Stg 542?

Probably happened when air conditioning and am/fm became standard in cars.

Just get it here, Tactical Imports, that'll take care of the naysayers.

Chrome lining is not a deal breaker or needed but it is odd that they say the rifle they submitted to the RCMP has it or did I get the details mixed up. It's been a while and I haven't read everything to catch up.
