Oh boy oh boy oh boy... I smell a CGN group buy acoming!

ROFL! I love it. Safe, Dead, Un-Dead. You can get custom serial numbers with letters in it.

Also, whats with the torch cut receivers? Who would want to spend $400 on an MG34 receiver that is cut to pieces with a torch?

come on business loans get approved so i can finaly afford to get my restricted and get one of the cool kid guns

I'd be in :)

but wait, won't we get yelled at again on cgn for having such a silly obsession with the whole undead thing??? ;)

edit... forgot to add wink to this sentence ^^^^ lol

So Questar, what are the chances?

There's no problem with getting the export permit and importing a shipment of these... the issue is going to be the cost. They are showing a price of $215.00 USD for a stripped receiver... That's a lot of money for a stripped receiver. In the US stripped receivers normally sell for around $100 to $150.

Add in the various shipping costs, permit costs, etc. and the suggestion that this could end up be a $400 + item isn't far fetched. Buying a quantity of them might get the purchase cost down somewhat, but you still have each one being individually processed and sold once they're here.

They are considered a "firearm" (registered as a "receiver only") because they are the serial numbered portion of the gun... so they have to be "verified", entered into the CFC system, transfered to each owner and then shipped individually to each owner. It's the same work and cost for us as doing a complete $1,500 AR.

If there's really a quantity of you (10 to 20) who are ready to plunk down $400 plus dollars to buy one of these then we can put together a "buy" and arrange it... but I suspect that when it comes down to it there won't be that many willing to spend that kind of money on this... and if we're only importing a few of them then the cost is higher since there are fewer units to spread the expenses over and less chance of getting any kind of discount when buying them.

Well, then I guess it all boils down to how much are people willing to pay...? or even how much do you think it's worth?

(How come all the cool stuff has to always cost alot of change ?!) lol

Well just my $.02 but the $215 is retail for one unit. I'm sure that the dealer price,+ plus a quanity order (20+) would bing the price down or ask to get the lower parts kit included? Maybe buddy would want to "sharpen" the price if he knew it was for CGN? How about the importer charging a "flat fee" for CGN members that we could split up?.Don't hammer me too hard just looking for options?

All fairness to Questar about being upfront - $400 for a stripped lower is way too much, even if they are cool looking. $300 + tax is still steep and about as much as I would be willing to pay for one of these. And I assume it would have to be all up front, and then Questar would order? Otherwise, you couldn't do personalized serial numbers...

I agreee, but maybe some of the mods in partner with Queststar could agree on a CGN serial with consecutive #'s.This may improve production costs? Buddy may bite if he is offered some free advertising on the site. We could contribute to a fund to cover the admin costs.Just my $.02.

I'd love to buy one just to be able to tell the serial # over the phone to the nice ladies at the CFC... "serial number? its D.I.R.T.Y.C.U.N..."

Actually, I don't see why you couldn't have a professional engraver do something similar locally if you were really determined.

tom sawyer does custom engraveing.. You can ask for whatever you want..
I doubt that he will cut much if any deal.. I think he is busy enough.
the torch cut mg 34 rec is rebuildable in the USA.. They are allowed to reweld them and build a semi just like the 1919 with a different side plate..
alot of that is going on for the mg 42, bren, and the mg 34.. They even do alot of sub gun stuff like ppsh and suomi.. they only need to make sure it has a long enough barrel to avoid the sbr thingy, unless they are willing to pay the 200 buck one time tax!

Hmm... while I generally am not a huge DLASK fan, their latest batch of engraved lowers (not hte laser etched ones) seem to be in spec and the one I have runs very well and fits perfectly with my Armalite upper.

But I can't say I'd recommend most of their stuff - including their uppers. The stripped lower was good though.

Buds thanks for FYI?

Is there anyone that sells a blank lower with no markings except for a serial number? Maybe we could get a batch of these things in and have a CGN Zombie hunter lower created (with the appropriate approvals from GT etc... before hand). Really, the custom serial number isn't that big a deal, but the dead-undead selector and some sort of zombie logo would be cool. Hey, we could even duplicate the "For Law Enforcement/Government/Zombie Neutralization Use only" warning on the side of the magwell:D
