Oh boy, this could get ugly

There was a group of FN that tried this on the back roads around my father's ranch two years ago. No one listened to them and even the CO's said they had no right to try and block roads. Natural Resource Officers even went in and removed the couple gates they tried to erect as well as remove trees they fell across roads. Then cut down a permanent hunting blind that was erected in a cut block :p
 
Last I talked with the CO, he said they weren't yet sure who they were going to support on this issue...I followed up with a phone call to the CO's voice mail the last week and still haven't had a reply...:(

Talked to a group of white guys I met up in TTI (thanks RJ) this week and they said one of the "Guardians" asked them if they could shoot a cow moose for her...caution boys, most likely a set up to make whitey look bad!

If the Tahltans are happy then the miners are happy and the BC government lets them do whatever they want. There are only a handful of RCMP in Dease Lake anyway and most of the COs travel from Smithers and Terrace, hours away. Just had my moose compulsory inspection done and he said the CO's are not supporting the indians...also indians have let hunters in...gates are not manned.

Its Crown land and this is still Canada, have at'er and don't be intimidated! :)
 
It's not just natives that think they can block crown land access. I have some idiot neighbours that think they can stop people from riding dirtbikes or shooting on crown land behind our subdivision, to the point of putting up no trespassing signs as well as signs saying no motorized vehicles on walking trails that were dirtbike trails 30 or 40 years ago. I get that people don't want a ton of traffic in what they consider their little area, but that still doesn't mean you get to block other people's access.

So, I got to thinking more about this issue of the RCMP and the CO's not enforcing the rule of law in these situations.

By NOT following the laws as set out by the Canadian government of what ever source, federal, provincial, common, criminal etc...this is (IMHO) clearly Obstruction of Justice by their departments, their management and individual officers!

They should be held accountable but the "catch 21" is WHO is going to enforce the enforcers...can't really see the RCMP charging themselves with obstruction by not enforcing the laws of the land! :(

I agree, and to add to this our Government is wishy washy and doesn't back the rcmp or the co's.
