"Tried and True" wood finish has beeswax and boiled linseed oil+++. Works great over an oil finish for extra protection. Get it at Lee Valley.

Or tung oil.

Both linseed oil and tung oil harden (polymerize) so they are no longer "oils" but a harder finish. Boiled linseed oil is linseed oil that has been heated, partially polymerized, and evaporating solvents added. This speeds up the "drying" process (polymerizing) so it takes days and not weeks.

The same thing is done to prepare tung oil instead of using raw tung oil.

I did a finish on my stock using a mix of armor all and Tru-oil .You can do multi-coats in a few hours....impressive .
Google "Woodstock's amazin' Stock Finish"
You could probably do over your finish without removing it first .
